Rescue and Recovery help

So in the past couple weeks I have read two posts regarding people that needed help. One was a tow of a broken down 6.0 and one was a "accidentally" caught my LJ on fire. So people post up and wait for a response. Just thinking there has to be a better way to help someone out. Is there any way to create a section that contact information could be posted in? Something that could be private except for forum members with say 20 posts. I am here in Cache Valley so me getting to Price or Wendover in any fast time is not going to happen. So maybe do a county by county list. So say 6.0 is broken down on Logan you could look up and get a phone number for someone that might be able to help out. Also with your contact info state what help you are capable of providing. So for me I have my Jeep for recovery, truck and trailer that can haul four door trucks. Also I can tow goose and fifth wheel trailers.

It would be cool if you could sign up for rescue alerts that would let you know if someone needed help and gave you the contact info you needed to get ahold of the person needing help

I'm up here in Cache Valley too. I just keep my eye on the offroad Facebook groups. There are a couple recovery groups that are dedicated only to rescue and recovery so you can set those notifications as a priority and not have to worry about getting slammed with notifications.

For those on FB there is a very active recovery group that includes many RME'ers. They've done a few dozen recoveries this summer alone. Perhaps a dedicated thread on here would be good too.

There have been MANY threads for individual recovery's, we've been doing them for years.... but it seems like the FB Recovery Groups have taken the niche we used to fill. Often times, the recovery's were people who weren't registered on here, but were referred since our group has very capable 4x4's, plenty of recovery gear and lots of experience and knowledge.

We could set up a sub-forum for 911/Emergency/Recovery, find guys that want to organize recoveries for their respective Counties and I can make that forum email/notify those that want to be involved in putting together recoveries.

That would be great. Put me on the list.
Also the sheriff that was involved in the (explorer) rollover , has my number in case they need help in a backcountry incident .

I was part of another group who had a rescue part of the admin. To be part of the rescue admin you had to be able to do solo recovery of a normal vehicle aka winch, compliment of tools and safety knowledge. Any message sent to this admin group went out to everyone in that group and they coordinated who was going and with what. Longest I waited in subzero weather when I threw a rod in my Jeep up hunting was just over an hour, main town was over an hour. They came hauling balls in a smaller rig to rescue me and get me out then at first light returned to winch me out of the snow and tow me to a waiting trailer and down the mountain. The guy who came for me was a local, knew the area very well as well as the weather and terrain. Perhaps a select group of admin with a pm setting where it is sent to all of the group at once and then they coordinate from there would be more efficient.
