I purchased this from RotBox on RME after he reluctantly decided it was time for a change. This is a high-mileage Cruiser, sitting at 249k when I bought it. It has been well maintained, doesn't burn or leak any oil and it runs and drives great. Andrew made some great mods that will be very handy to have, including some LED lighting, the rear tailgate carpet was replaced with a piece of stainless steel for food prep.

I'm going to post the maintenance stuff here, mostly for my info. ;)

Recent service history:
Timing Belt & related parts done @ 201k
Second 90K service @ 207K
Spark plugs changed at 243K
Differentials and transfer case gear lube changed @ 247K

Some pics, taken while making the drive home after buying it. :D From Black Dragon Canyon in the Swell.

Glad to see this thing is being well used and enjoyed still! I was the 3rd owner, first owner was a congress woman out of Colorado, that's where the mileage came from. Second owner was a mechanical supervisor on HAFB. He did a great job patching up EVERYTHING that wasn't handled by the meticulous first owner. I bought it with 208k. I did a compression test and leakdown before purchasing and everything was so close to spec I was literally blown away. Testament to the landcruiser 2UZ-FE, especially if maintained properly!

I'll jump into my old hdds and see if I can find some photos before the lift/wheels/tires. I also have some dyno charts somewhere.... not that it's much to write home about! Hope it's still being enjoyed!

Hey Rob, that's awesome that you know so much about the history of this 100 Series! It's very interesting that it was owned by a congresswoman in Colorado!

Unfortunately we sold this Cruiser a couple years ago (hence the thread not being updated since 2015), but not before a trip in it down to Baja, where it worked quite well! I sold it locally, here in Western CO and see the new owner driving it around now & again, he has since added a front ARB Bumper and snorkel.

What's funny is that after I sold it, my wife told me how much she loved the 100 Series. She wants one as a DD, so we've been casually looking for another one.

I miss that rig a lot.... Despite the miles it was hands down the most trustworthy vehicle I've ever owned!!

Here are some photos for entertainment:

Somewhere, I have photos after I plasti-dipped the bumpers and emblems, I also think I have the video breaking the front diff at little moab.... hence the ARB! Next time you see the new owner ask him if he wants to sell it ;)

Interesting shots on the dyno... was the front driveline disconnected to run an AWD vehicle on a 2-roller dyno?

Yeah, I ran the cruiser without the front diff in it for a time. I broke the stock diff in little moab, took my time putting the ARB in. The center diff lock allows you to do so, otherwise you'd have some wear on the t-case.

The dyno was basically an exercise to prove/disprove the HP gain claims on the mud forum from the "Deck Plate" mod. As you can see all the "Deck Plate" mod did was cause the fueling to be erratic. I worked as an ECU Calibrator at Edge products at the time so it was an easy project to undertake with my landcruiser in the state it was in.

If you're serious about buying it back, the new owner did have it listed for sale about a year ago. But then he ran into something with the front-end and damaged the fender & possibly the door. Last time I saw it, the damage looked to had been repaired, but in primer. I probably still have his contact info, if I search for it.

I'm in the market for another 100 series as we speak. It would be fun to have this one back if possible. Let me know if you come across his info.

thanks Greg!

Hey all. I just bought this cruiser! It has just over 300,000 on it now. I’ve got to sort out some alignment issues, paint the fender, and fix the radio antenna. Also a bit of rust on the rear fender to address. I’ll post some photos when I figure out how to do it on this sight (I’m brand new to this sight).

That's awesome, how did you find RME? Are you in Western CO?

My wife keeps telling me she wants it back, so if you decide it's not for you, let me know. :greg:

I found RME by googling “mahogany pearl land cruiser” and oddly enough the actual one I was looking at buying came up and linked to this site. I am in Gunnison. I will definitely let you know if I decide it’s not for me. I had a completely stock 2001 LC 100 that I absolutely loved. I’m not sure I need all the stuff like lift, snorkel, winch, etc, but like that it has diff lockers.

That's amazing, glad you were able to find this thread and the background behind your new Cruiser! I'd love to see what kind of adventures you take it out on.

Well Fellas, I am seriously considering selling this cruiser and getting rid of some debt. I've put a little love into it, replaced the drivers side cv axle, painted the fender that the previous owner replaced (it was primer), new rear ujoints and some other I may have forgotten. I replaced the rear springs with some softer, lower OME but still have the heavy OMEs. It needs an alignment, but its running well and the motor is still quiet as a mouse. Just putting this out there as a feeler.

Is it up over 300K yet?

Not a bad price, especially if you've kept it mechanically sound.
'Cause reading is hard ya know!:p

That's a good price for what that truck is. Greg's wife is lucky I'm not in a place to start a bidding war right now.

Or maybe I'm lucky. Whatever. I want it and can't have it, that's what's important here.
