This thread is for planning out RME Monthly Trail Runs. Our goal is to plan out a group trail run 1-3 months in advance, so that those who are interested in attending can plan ahead. Once a location is decided we'll start a new thread for that Monthly Trip and go over the details.

In that thread we'll discuss what kind of trip it will be;

  • What kind of 4x4 trip; Challenging Rock Crawling, easy 2 track, overnight camping trip, etc.
  • Trail Rating and Location.
  • Share the meeting place and time.
  • Discuss minimum vehicle needs; tire size, body protection, lockers.
  • Talk about Group Size... some trail runs dictate a smaller group.
  • Any other information relevant to the trip.

Ideally we will get to a point where anyone that wanted to, could host a RME Monthly Trail Run. If you have a favorite trail that you're willing to lead a group on, please share and plan a RME Monthly Trail Run!

So, where would you guys like do a RME Monthly Trail Run? Let's talk about what trails we all want to run in the future and start making plans!

I would like to see some Monthly Trail Runs planned for a rock crawling trip to Price, a San Rafael Swell camping trip, Sand Hollow, Hanging Tree trail, etc.

And I think I'm going to put together a New Years Snow Run to Black Rock Canyon for January 1st... :D

Black Rock is an easy dirt road, until it gets all covered in deep snow--then it gets fun. :)

Thinking about the February RME Trail Run... I'd like to hit up the Little Sahara Dunes. It would be a daytrip, unless some wanted to camp out. Stock vehicles can play, but a lift, bigger tires and lockers will make it funner. Plan on airing down and have a way to air back up at the end of the day.

We did this last year, but I didn't make it due to last minute vehicle problems. Little Sahara is great in the winter, the sand is firm enough for some 4x4 play. We can do some vehicle recovery & extraction practice. I'd love to make this one an Annual RME Trip!

I'm thinking late Feb, on a Saturday... the 17th or 24th? What do you guys think?

Wasatch Cruisers are doing their annual dunes run in February. Perhaps coordinate with them?

I'm open for whatever. I plan on a lot of Moab trips this year for mountain biking, I've never been to St George so I don't know what it's like. I'm down for a 2 day trip. If there's a trail decided on that I need to beef up some parts for I'll have plenty of time.

We will see where we end up, I'd really like to do a weekend in Moab for one of these Monthly Trips... preferably when it's warmer.

+1 for the Swell

I'm game for the Swell! Lots of other options, too... could camp, visit Goblin Valley, hike slot canyons, visit old cabins and mining sites, etc.
