Brainstorming my next rig. How to fit 4 mountain bikes inside a 4x4.

I've always hated Toy Haulers, for the reasons mentioned (quality primarily but also having the toy area as part of he living quarters). However, a nice toy hauler would really fill your needs. Back several years ago when we were looking at trailers, we did find a toy hauler that had the toy box on the front instead of the back. It did have a bunk in the toy box, but the toy box was 100% separate from the living area. It was made to hold a single fourwheeler or a couple dirtbikes, etc. It wasn't huge but you could probably fit 8 mountain bikes in the garage space. The living area was fairly decent, the cabinets were nice non-rv style cabinets (looked like custom home cabinets). It also had a pop-out that went out the back, so when fully setup, it wasn't cramped at all...not like having multiple side pop-outs, but would be tolerable. It caught my attention not only because of the things above but also because it was fairly light. At the time my buddy was looking for something he could tow with his Tacoma and this fit within the weight rating of the Tacoma.

I guess my point is there are some toy haulers that could meet all your needs and aren't your typical poor quality like you normally expect to see in the smaller toy haulers.

I've seen a few nice toy haulers, although most are junk commodity products. I don't think I would ever tow any sizable toy hauler with a toyota or a half ton. If it's a once or twice a year thing, fine, but I'd be stressed out towing near the max all the time.

OH man, I love 2002s! My dad had a 2002 tii when I was a kid.

Ok, back on topic... It looks like I get employee pricing on Nissan, Ford, and GM too. That might make it more appealing to buy a brand new vehicle. But even then, it's a lot of $$$.

I need to test drive a nissan, but I worry that they're not long enough. I think the bikes would take up most of the room in an NV. I also hear they get awful MPG. Like 12 mixed highway/freeway. I can't imagine it'd get great mpg towing.

I wonder why Nissan doesn't just put a titan front suspension on them. I believe they're the same motor/trans and most of the frame is the same as a titan. It'd be cool to have a "factory" 4x4 option.

My neighbor has one of the NV's and he loves it for hauling 10 kids around. It's pretty dang big, 1 ton and lot's of power. He wasn't expecting much on mpg's but he is really happy with it.

My buddy just bought a used 2011 f350 with the 6.2 last week. Two days ago the fan clutch seized and it shore the crank off (or something like that). $6k repair bill. Totally sucks.

I think my dream model would be a white or cement grey 2018 sr5 trd sport. I'm not crazy about the fake hood scoop, but I love everything else about that package.

The guy that owns it actually wanted to trade me his tundra for my van.
I think that one would be even tougher to load kids in.

I’m not going to lie, I’ve been secretly praying that you would buy a sprinter van. That way you could post a detailed build process, research all pros and cons for the hardware, then sell it to me for cheap a year later!

I drool over cement gray Toyotas every time. So in my completely worthless and purely superficial opinion, I support the direction you are heading
