If everyone is busy tomorrow, would sunday work better? It wouldnt interfere with national public lands day then. My wife also informed me I will be attending a wedding reception tomorrow night so i am not sure how late I could hang out, with that said I would be more than willing to leave the shop in your guys hands if I had to bail before we were finished up

It's up to you, I was planning to spend Saturday afternoon & evening working on it. I won't be able to stay for more than a few hours on Sunday, due to needing to drive back home.

I'm planning on being there around Noon or a bit after. I'm hoping/planning on us being able to knock this thing out relatively quickly. :)

Things were going pretty well. Gears are being a bit painful to setup but ILean and Ryan had that pretty much under control. We got the drivers side brake line mounted up. When I had to bail, they sounded like they were getting close on the gears. Shocks taken care of. Pretty productive from what I saw. Driveline is a bit of a conundrum.

So lets try to figure out what needs to happen to make the rear driveshaft work...

Kevin, what joints are your old driveshaft built with, 1310? The Super Duty driveshaft looks to have 1410 joints and the tube is massive, I think we figured it was 4" tube.... compared to the 2" tube on the old one. It doesn't look like one could adapt pieces of each to make one working driveshaft. So the new rear axle has a 1410 yoke, if we can find a conversion u-joint from 1410 to 1310 we can keep the old driveshaft.

I have found 1350 to 1410 conversion joints, but nothing for 1310 to 1410. - https://www.amazon.com/Neapco-2-1435-Conversion-U-Joint-1350/dp/B01B3JBRIU

Does that sound right?

I wish I had the answers. Wasn't far enough in the process to figure out driveline yet. What you a are saying is understandable. It just a standard jeep u joints what ever those where. Maybe a quick call to six states will give us the answers we need. Sorry it had turned into a problem. I feel bad you guys working on my stuff and you have hit problems.

I don't think it's a big problem, just something we need to figure out and take care of!

I wonder if we could get the new driveshaft measurement, have a driveshaft shop put a 1350 yoke on the driveshaft ( and shorten/lengthen it if needed ) and then use a 1350 to 1410 conversion joint at the axle. I think that would be the easiest.

Something along those lines are what I think would be easiest. That would require a new spline section on the driveshaft, since the yoke is built into that.

Unless there's a yoke available for the pinion that would be something smaller...like a 1310 or 1350 yoke to replace the flange? I don't know how available something like that is though. Either way, consulting a driveshaft guy is probably the next step. :)

Also Kevin...I don't know if anyone mentioned your shocks to you or not...but we couldn't use the nice shocks you provided. They're just too long. The axle-side mount would have needed to hang down below the axle tube like 4". Ryan had some take-off Bilstein shocks that are on there now--you can either get a shorter version Fox to swap in, or whatever. :D

I might have a couple of old driveshafys kicking around. You could see if any of them or parts of them would work. I think mostly 1350 stuff but maybe 1310. If this is a trail Jeep, could you use the yokes you have or could scrounge up and do a temporary square tube driveline?

After a little research it looks like the drive line needs to have a bigger sized yoke put on it. Leave the transfer case end alone and replace the the driveline end yoke. Your right Greg there is no 1310 to 1410 conversation. If you upsized the driveline yoke to 1410 or even 1350 the you can get the conversion u joint. Not sure if anyone has a 1350 slip laying around. Not sure if splines would match up. Again. If it's too much to deal with I understand and can take it off your hands. I am already so much in debt to everyone that had helped.

I am in the dark on the progress you guys have or haven't made. Only what is posted here.
I was we worried about that. Went back and forth on which ones to order. Should have gone with the shorter ones.

Do we know if the driveshaft needs lengthened or shortened? Or do we just need to get the yoke swapped out?
