FB friends. I have a somewhat odd request. I have a reindeer hide that I brought back from Greenland a few years back. I dont what treating was done to it but the hair is still really clean and not falling out. The backside of the hide is what appears to be untreated and somewhat rigid.

What can I do to treat the back to preserve it? Anything I can/should do? Plan a is to simply stretch it and attach it to a wall. Get the leather damp and stretch?

Can't tell if that has been tanned or just a dried out green hide?

If it has been tanned, throw it in the dryer (no heat) with a couple tennis balls, that will soften it up.

If it hasn't been tanned, get it tanned.

I think it's raw, this came right from a reindeer just a few weeks before I got there. Any recommended tanners?
