Any Mtn Bikers on RME?

One of my tubeless tires is flat after the winter and wasn't holding air. (There was a goat head in it.) I had a shop convert it last year but don't know what type of goo they used. Does it matter what I buy? Also, will I have to break the bead to fill it up or will I be able to fill through the presta? I really don't want to have to break the bead, thats why I gave up and went tubeless. I couldn't get the darn tire off the rim...
I break the bead to pour in more stans, but I don't remove the tire. I haven't seen a presta that has a removable stem personally. It isn't hard to break the bead, pour in some sealant, then inflate to reseat the bead. That is just my experience.

Had to add air during a race Saturday, I remove the pump and the stem core comes out stuck in the pump, what? Broke the valve stem "housing"s threaded tip, it just sheared off. First ride of the year problems.

This Saturday I've got to get some maintenance done, would love to join you guys sometime though.

My presta are removable, just have a syringe I push the sealant in. My tires are a nightmare to break the bead and even worse to get them to seal again.
Ditto, if it weren't taking off old tires that got ruined in the process, not sure how if tires I wanted to keep : ) . Seal again or seat the beads? For re-seating beads = air compressor a few seconds until they go pop, kinda scary, kinda cool.

I broke several tire levers last time I tried to get apart the tire and rim to fix a flat. These tires are really tight and I just don't want to deal with that if I don't have to. It's on my surly ogre.

I tried with a hand pump couldn’t get them to seat. Gave up took them to a shop. Next time I had to service I had picked up the adapter for my compressor. Eventually got them to seat but 90% of the sealant was on me and my garage by the time I was successful 😂

Oh that sounds messy! I was doing a fresh tire set so didn't have sealant in yet, added it after seating the bead.

I found my flat pedals. I'll throw them on for you. No need to pull yours off.

How "advanced" is this ride? I'm on my second night putting on a couple miles. My quads are non-existent. (Too many knee surgeries and old fat man lifestyle are likely culprits?) My confidence in my legs is not strong ;).

With that, I'm sure I can do a few miles but am not sure if I can do over 3-5 depending on terrain. I definitely don't want to hold you guys up. What's the skinny on the ride?

The ride this weekend isn't likely to happen now. Weather says rain/snow and cold on Fri and Sat.

I have never been to Antelope Island to Ride, but I hear it is pretty tame. I am far from fast right now. I am sure you can keep up with me just fine when we do finally get to go ride. If I get home from Boise tomorrow early enough, I may try to hit the Kaysville Wilderness park, or Fruit Loops for a quick run on dirt. I rode my new bike Sunday to a buddies house, it was painfully hard to pedal on pavement. I am WAY out of shape.

This is why I'm not fond of pumps with threaded chucks.

Yeah, weather just got super iffy. Because of course it did, it's my weekend. :D

For the most part the trails on Antelope Island are very tame, technically. Exertion-wise, there are some climbs that will tax a rider who's out of shape, but that's pretty much everywhere in Utah. Basin and Range topography means everything is either flat or straight up, and nobody builds mountain bike trails on the flat boring crap. Fat old men like us need to just get used to walking the steep crap until the legs are up to speed. It's pretty much a spring ritual for me at this point. Pavement rides to build endurance base definitely help.

I think @TRD270 and I are planning to try a ride in Corner Canyon on Thursday, not sure what time. The weather should be still be great and the trails might be dry? I think we're looking at Anne's Trail, which is nice and smooth and (mostly) not steep so it's a good ride for fat guys with winter legs. Anyone is welcome to ride with me any time, I'm slow AF too and if you happen to be slower then I don't mind waiting.
