Working on a project for our the fearless U4 leader Tacoma and his faithful subvert Jack J.

Mineral Fork up Big Cottonwood Canyon. I can't remember if it was closed due to private land issues or FS travel plan/Wilderness.

Also, what about Salt Creek in Canyonlands? Thats always in limbo.

Mineral Fork is still open, just not to 4x4s. Fourwheelers and Motorcycles are still fair game.

Interesting, I did not know that. Do we know why no 4x4's?

" Mineral Fork: up until 1983, had a road very much passable by four
wheel drives. In fact there was a pair of old wooden bridges in one spot to
help 10 wheeled dump trucks negotiate the tight, steep switchbacks to access
the Wasatch Tunnel and Regulator mines at the top of the canyon. The
current road was built in 1936, but was actually the third generation road
(the second generation road was built prior to 1899). The bottom of the
present road was badly washed out in '83, taking the banks of earth and the
wood bridges along with it. Apparently the Forest Service never bothered
repairing it (big surprise). Due to the washout and lack of maintenance,
the canyon is open today to ATV's only. I find it wholly ludicrous that the
greatest numbers of registered ATV's in the state is found in Salt Lake
County, yet Mineral Fork is the ONLY legal trail in the ENTIRE COUNTY where
one can drive an ATV. I find this both astonishing and disheartening at the
same time. How can the county expect users to "follow the rules" and "stay
off the foothills", etc., when they only provide 2.1 miles of legal trails
to ride on??"

From EZ Rhino.

The entire trail is passable by a 4x4 albeit for one narrow section where a rock fell in the mid 90's. EZ states that it was impassable by a 4x4 in the 80's but that was likely to a stock 4x4, I know it was passable much later by a decent rig.

I remember going up in about '91ish in my Dad's stock Samurai. I don't remember how far we got, just that we ran it. It wasn't long after that when it was closed to 4x4's I guess.

Lots of roads down here on the Dixie NF have recently been closed. I'll try and get a list from one of my contacts at the FS office.

Oh Tacoma which RS2477 roads did you want me to look at?

Hog Canyon Trail System- BLM;
Lower Hog Canyon, Axle Alley, The Saddle, Dave's Revenge. Closed when the trail system was established under the emergency order for political reasons only. We are working on having them reopened.

There were only a few lost in the Kanab FO RMP. I'll get a list together on those

La Verkin Creek trail both upper and lower are now included in Wilderness areas. As well as La Verkin creek trail from toquerville falls to La Verkin Shooting range. There are several dozen routes between Mt Carmel and Coral pinks closed, including Steep trail where the road crosses the river to connect with the poverty road. They have sytematically gone out in that area and closed every road except the main roads. http://www.facebook.com/home.php?re...azine/we-better-get-out-of-here-/438009360702 This is what you see everywhere around the Coral Pinks Any number of trails and routes inside the NCA on the west Desert. All routes included inside NCA'S inside washington county will be closed with the Current RMP implementation.

June's Bottom (on the Green River, San Rafael Desert)

This is one I would definatly like to see re-opened. I am friends with a someone who is a grandson of June Marsing. They have heritage access to the area by permit and he has been trying to get a permit granted for a couple of years so we could ride motorcycles down. We don't anticipate that happening to soon:rolleyes:
