You know what makes me smile on this thread is the fact that the PO said he wheeled the hell out of it and you still bought it. Something in the line of rode hard, put away wet comes to mind. The fact that it has ARBs gives you atleast a $2K headstart, then you add gearing and all the steering modes, you probably did come out okay. When I look for jeeps on KSL or anywhere else, If I see pictures of them in Moab I look but don't buy. It does sound like you have a good headstart on your jeep. Enjoy it and I say go give Helldorado another shot on 33's.
So far with this vehicle I am out of pocket $3,000 (new tires were a good chunk of that). So far I have easily fixed the mechanical issues with the steering setup, one rear axle shaft, and a front driveline. Everything works and it runs well for now. I will need to replace the clutch and slave cylinder sometime in the next two years as it feels there is some oil on the clutch plate itself. I will be replacing the brake pads this month as well. A couple of cosmetic fixes and it should be a decent running rig.
Worst case scenario, currently I would be able to get out of the vehicle what I have into it. I just want to make sure that I don't go way over my head and start dumping a lot of money into this. I would hate to see the typical rockcrawler Ad read "For Sale $6,000, invested over $12,000. My loss is your gain". I simply plan on making the most out of it while I have it.
