Sorry, I forgot to post up that my GJ side trip got cancelled. Diesel cost was an issue so I stayed and ran Pritchett Canyon, Potato Salad Hill and Rear Steer before heading down to Trail Hero.
If the ride happens, and it ends up just me and you, we'll just have to be careful that you don't break because my light rig would have a real hard time towing you anywhere, especially on the trail.
I will have a day or two between my Moab trip [after all my buddies head home] and the start of Trail Hero so I'm thinking about heading to 21Rd or Billing's for a day run and maybe camping out - looking for one or more rigs to join me. Most likely my wheeling day will be Monday, October 1st...
Trip was awesome! With as many rigs as we had and two weeks of wheeling, there was a LOT of wrenching in between rides - but we expected that and were largely prepared for it.
The Grand Junction trip ended up getting cut short though. Near the end of 21Rd, somewhere in The Gauntlet I presume...
Pile of parts:
I don't know if you're gonna get fixed in time anyway, but it looks like the trip to GJ is going to get moved for a few reasons. I hate to say it, but it looks as though it is NOT going to happen this weekend now. Probably going to happen mid week now, like Thursday-Saturday.
Great, thanks Greg!
Cool. I'm sure I'll keep the info current here. And we can swap numbers later if needs be.
Haha. Didn't even realize that. I'm from the "bible belt" where they don't sell alcohol on Sundays, so it's in my nature to ask to be sure. :usa:
By the way, can anyone tell me what time grocery stores and liquor stores are open til Sunday night in GJ and if the beer is normal or low% like UT? We may be doing a beer and supplies run on departure.
Yeah, the spot I'm talking about must be the second one you refer to because it isn't in any of those pictures either. I remember it being on the left, slightly off the trail and higher up, almost completely protected from weather and with a VERY sandy base - almost like beach sand, but very...
Wet? Has it been raining a lot or does the stream just have some water right now? I've only ever seen it bone dry.
And now that we're hoping to be the first onto the trail, we probably won't be camping on the trail anyway.
Anyone have any pictures of the sandy wash-out, cave-like area on 21 Road? I'm trying to find pics for my buddies in case we have to camp there (is that allowed?). I can't seem to find anything no matter how I search.
I'll be there from the 4th to the 17th with a group of Toyotas of all kinds and sizes from all over the country. We're staying a little south of town near SlickRock Campground. Looking to wheel as much as possible, of course.
