I'm posting for a good friend....New suspension for an 85 CJ-7 (coil overs?)

To Choose between the front or the rear is a big question, do you like verts better or approach angle for boulder crawling better. If you are a moab wheeler i would say do the rear end. A properly set up set of 2.5" Air Shocks and a 4 link or 3 link track bar setup would do wonders for your...

    fox air shocks

You can go down to airgas or norco and get a bottle and gauges, then just have evco make you a high pressure hose that has an air chuck at the end. Then you can just set the gauge at the recommended pressure (200 psi usually) and charge them (if they are coil overs) once every six moths to a...

    Wire or synthetic winch cable?

All of the brands are pretty good and most use the samson rope, i like the 3/8 (costs a little more) because it takes a little more abuse before snapping, you can always carry an extension because the stuff is freaking light. a 30-50 foot extension can fit under a seat without fear of it...

    Lexan Hood?

The heat of the summer sags them out. We had one on an older version of the commando, and it sagged out in the heat, as well as cracked in the cold. Look at some of the old hammer down vids and you will see them breaking in moderate temps on trails when hit by a rock or something, also on the...

    YJ spring over questions: help!

suck all of your mountong brackets closer to the frame, and put all of the shackle hanger bushings at the top of the frame, you can get a good 3" lower doing that. and you still keep those strong stable RE spring over springs. Cheap springs and soft springs get destroyed way too easy. and if...

    fuel cell?

just cut the tabs off and use straps, they are stronger that the tabs anyways, especially if you make the straps out of 1/8" x 2" strap. the tank will never fall out. you could get away with .083 by 2" strap (I guess that would be a piece of sheet that is sheared at 2"). Then get some of the...

    fuel cell?

and use straps to mount it instead of their welded tabs, when using the tabs it doesnt allow the tank to expand and contract with the temperature changes, and after time, cracks the tank. I have been around too many rigs with tanks like that that crack at just the wrong time because of that reason

    Best buggy motor???

I guess HP is expensive, I just have a few boys up here that are getting around 350 hp with a nice intake and a few home mods like porting, port matching, and polishing, chip and good exhaust (at least that is what they tell me they have done), but I agree, I am like you and never want to go...
