General Tech What did you work on Today?

I feel like we've discussed this before. Yup. https://www.rme4x4.com/threads/why-blur-your-license-plate.48199/ :D

    I had a great time with a TJ on 35's pulling a trailer. :)

    Radius arm basics?

Sure...2 5/8" wide, 5/8" bolt (Jeep is 9/16 bolt). 2.25" diameter with a slightly larger step at one end. They press into 2.75" .25" wall tube nicely. (that's what those sleeves are made from, with a relief machined into one side)🙂

Didn't like the price of a Hitchgate, huh? Yours looks great!

    Radius arm basics?

Frame and axle side use the same bushings, which are lower control arm bushings for a mid-90's Dodge truck. They are the same outside dimensions as a Jeep TJ/XJ/ etc. bushing, so they pressed into Teraflex forged housings.

    Radius arm basics?

I too wanted adjustability, so this was my solution. I use rubber bushings at all points, but the frame attachment is in a threaded housing. That adjusts the axle forward/backward. For caster adjustment, I did a sorta-cam-bolt idea, but it's not as easily adjusted as a cam. The slotted hole...

Haha, that's funny! I found it very intuitive to use. To each his own.

    TIG Talk

I can't help too terribly much, but I do have that Vulcan ProTIG 205 and I like it. If you want to come play with it, feel free. My vast TIG experience is using @mesha's Lincoln square wave 200, and mine. The Lincoln has less adjustments in it's digital menu, and seems to start the arc a...

You just chill for a few days while your solar array recharges your juice. It's not like you'd have anywhere you needed to be.

Those of us (me) who are far too lazy to do that, request that you at least post the final result here as well. :)

I don't have much of a baseline on what these things weigh usually....so I'll say 2400 lbs.

    Radius arm basics?

Sway bar is not usually a bad idea--but may or may not be as necessary with a radius arm setup. On my TJ (which had radius arms), I enjoyed the sway bar. On my SAS Land Cruiser, I don't feel the need for one. And that's even though I have the parts on the shelf to build it.

    Radius arm basics?

Poly bushings and radius arms aren't the best combination, since the poly is pretty "hard" compared to rubber, and doesn't like to deflect. So you'll end up with restricted articulation, or blown out poly bushings, or some combination of those. Your pinned "wristed" setup would alleviate the...
