400 heavy and sucks 45-ish hp to turn, the r4 is alot lighter and less parasitic drag along with the od. I do believe the r4 is longer over all by a few inches tho
I had both for my 98, the soft top is more of a pita to clear the windows of any snow w/o scratching them. the hard top is quieter. In most yj's I have ridden in with the hard top, it takes longer to warm up due to the the fiberglass top also needing to be warmed. Also I found in yj's in the...
ok throw out how ya liked your if you have used one. There are a lot of companies out there making them. I plan to mount it in front of the radiator and condenser. I would like about the largest one possible that will fit and work well. Getting tired of wearing boots so my feet don't burn while...
one other issue for jeeps anyways... You can fit a tummy tuck with some work with out using a body lift. The issue then turns into one of air flow at higher road speeds. The temp of the trans/xfer case tends to go up a lot as you go speeding down the highway with those close quarters when not...
I prefer the gen right or purejeep. they have a built in stand off that doubles as a step( not a tube a continuous part of the slider) then go up the body panel and help stiffen/cover some lower areas from damage
The 35 usually dies by hopping it with heavy right foot action. If your aware of it's limitations then you should be OK, but I would do the super 35 upgrade and put a stout cast/steel cover. The cover adds some rigidity(less end cap play) to it and gets rid of the rubber plug that lets way too...
My Lj was a rental in hawii before I got it. The thing was a fight to get into 4 low. Figured it hadn't been used much. I had the best luck going from 4hi to 4 low in neutral. If the xfer case isn't in all the way it will pop out easy like you described.
I was going to work on the linkage but...
2 things come to mind. I had you r same problem on my last set up. I was using a 4' firestik 2. It was bad from the factory I stripped it and kept checking cont all the way down. It finally read right about 1 inch from the base. But you have borrowed another set up and found the same thing, so...
gaa if memory servers... swr meter place cb on ch 1 key mic adj meter to the set limit on read out then while still keying mic flip switch to forward. This gets you you swr for ch 1 repeat for ch 40. IF 1 is higher then 40 then ant is too long and if 40 is higher then 1 it is too short.
If you...
Nice thread good luck with it. Only advice I would add is, that after checking your gas mileage you may wish to rethink the tires. Toyo's are a great tire but they are on the heavy side and tend to adversely effect gas mileage
Down here in St. George is a trail/dirt road that leads to the grand canyon. It is a bit of a trip, slow going but nothing technical. You do get to hit he canyon at a spot where you can camp alone with no tourist issues and get some amazing sites.
I haven't made it to the end yet. When I...
