This is just an idea as of now, no parts. I have a '96 xj and would like to put a Mercedes diesel In her. I'm a trucker and not*home very often. Does anyone know of a good mechanic that would be able to tackle a project like this. Btw I live near Clearfield. Thanks in advance for the input.
Just found me a junkyard rear D44 so now I have the strength to go bigger in my XJ.
Real basic, I need 4.56 ring and pinion for a 27 spline xj dana 30 and 4.56 ring and pinion for a rear dana 44 out of a 87 XJ. So 30 spline.
Couple things I forgot to mention; the ball joints got replaced this june with the synergy greasable joints. Also, last week I installed both front and rear locker bypass switches. I've wheeled it once midly and they work perfect. I havent done the ESP bypass, so that will be on the next buyer...
The bent axle shaft was replaced a long time ago so it is in perfect running order. Im reading what I wrote now and I didnt word it all to well. The bent one is just a spare just in case. No mechanical problems whatsoever. And I have alot of extra parts and doodads laying around that will go...
