sure i need a new air box or sure i can just clamp on to it? if so what kind of hose do you suggest?

so do i need to buy a new air box? or can i just hook a hose onto the existing air intake??? i have a 21/2 or 3 inch curl tube that comes out of the air box and ends behind the grill to the side of the radiator can i just clamp on to that?
