    Vehicle Build: 1st Gen Tundra

Trying to make the shell functional (and look prettier haha) so I started by painting it. Truck is back to two colors now. I installed the latch in the rear as well. I still need to find some struts to hold it open, but bungee cords are fine for now. I'm still yound and limber(ish) so I can...

    Vehicle Build: 1st Gen Tundra

Forgot to post pics of how the bumper turned out. Luckily, this is the internet so I don't have to show you up close pics of my absolutely horrendous welds. I still need to fix the side wings. Driver's side needs to come up about an inch and a half, passenger's side needs to come up three...

I soaked 7 out of the 9 bolts with pb blaster. It helped a little, but what really helped was when I gave up and went to buy an impact gun on bolt number 6 or 7.

Since all classes are online now I have been able to go somewhere with workspace on my days off work and get a little done on the truck. This weekend I starting installing/constructing a rear bumper kit from Coastal Offroad. I have it all tacked up now. I need to pull it off and weld in the...

    Vehicle Build: 1st Gen Tundra

Picked this little number up today. Found a deal I couldn't pass up. I have to decide if I like it and then it'll get the trusty black paint job. If I keep it, I'll probably make a simple sleeping platform. I need to install two latches on the back window and wire the 3rd brake light. Hopefully...

    Vehicle Build: 1st Gen Tundra

A few weeks ago, a loose semi truck wheel jumped the median and crossed six lanes before striking my vehicle. Driver's side rear quarter panel was destroyed. After getting several quotes for $3k-$4k, I decided to replace the whole bed with one from the junkyard. This was the best one I found, it...

Been a while. 285s on the 17 inch wheels mounted. Very slight bumper trim and a pinchweld smash will get the rubbing to stop(already removed mud flaps). It's very slight as it is. In 3 weeks I'll have a garage for a few days. Gonna try to get something that looks like a bumper on the rear and I...

    Vehicle Build: 1st Gen Tundra

In two months I will be married and living in an apartment 2 hours from the nearest garage that I can work in so I'm trying to wrap up some things and start some things before it gets a lot more difficult. On the list are a set of homemade skids and the 285/75/17 tires that I'm still on the...

Rolled some Rust-Oleum on for the winter. The chips on the hood were all the way to bare metal and I really didnt want to sand the whole front foot of the hood down to bare metal and have to worry about priming and all of that, so some of the deeper ones are still there, just painted over...

This is a great idea. Looks like that's what I'm going to do in the spring. Some of these spots are down to bare metal so I'm going to give it some decent paint for now and then throw a 3m wrap on it in the spring. Thanks for this idea

Was this on Carlos? I just looked at your ttora build thread for it but didn't see anything. I'd like to know a little bit more about the process/prep/paint type. I'm learning to paint houses commercially right now, so I know how to paint in general but I don't know how different the process...

    Vehicle Build: 1st Gen Tundra

Well, this is now more of a maintenance thread than it is a build thread, but I still like documenting the work I do on the vehicle I suppose. Since being back I haven't done much to the truck, but have a few things in progress. I was actually able to find another 1st Gen (by some kind of...

It was fantastic. Definitely taught me more than I could have ever learned without leaving. Glad to be back, but for sure an excellent experience.

Right, first step is new gas cap. It still clicks and visually seems good but could still be bad. Next would be filler neck and after that other more complicated investigation. Hopefully it's just the gas cap. I'm not very familiar with long term car storage either so I don't really know what...

    Vehicle Build: 1st Gen Tundra

Well, after 2 years the vehicle is still (in essence) as it sat when I left it. A piece of trim got ripped off the side of it last week when my buddy drove it down from Idaho at 100+mph and some underbody parts and parts of the sliders have some very moderate surface rust. It passed safety &...
