Jeep $30 xj 99-04 super duty truss build

Didn't wanna pay $350+ for an Artec truss. (even though it is a great product) so I made my own using some scrap I found at the steel yard. Was $30 for everything out the door. Started with a piece of 6x4x1/4 tubing, 1-1/4 x .250 dom, 3/4" fine thread tap, 3/4" hiems (from a project in 2012), 2ft of 3x3x1/4" tubing, a propane torch and a grinder. Then welded everything together. The double ended link you see is one that I threaded on each side then cut it in half to use as the uppers. I wanted to retain the radius arm setup I already had. 20180510_132111_resized.jpg20180510_134212_resized.jpg20180510_140104_resized.jpg20180510_144016_resized.jpg20180510_185227_resized.jpg20180510_175446_resized.jpg20180510_204212_resized.jpg20180512_204650_resized.jpg20180512_152209_resized.jpg20180512_155746_resized.jpg

Awesome job!

Side note: I love the progression of pictures and how dirty your shop floor gets as you move along... Clean to not! Grinding/cutting=Dirty mess.

I was REALLY concerned with the first picture, thinking that was how it was going to be done. Very glad to see the whole plan come together.

Thanks man. Still need to get the track bar and hydro assist mount on but that won't take long. Wish I could have this thing under the Jeep for Sunday but I'll just have to run the 8 lug hp 44 for this trip and just not sender as hard.
