What’s the best way to learn how to do axle gears

I don’t know where to start looking but want to learn how to do axle gears any idea?

I've never done gears but the below pirate4x4 post has a lot of good info.

I'd grab a dirt cheap dana 30 or 35 to practice on then enroll at youtube university.

As others have said. Go get a super cheap dana 30 axle so you can test everything out on. Make sure you have a clamshell style bearing puller, an inch pound torque wrench for rolling torque, a magnetic base dail indicator, a press, housing spreader, a caliper. And lots of patience. Then go to YouTube and search for Differential Ring and Pinion Gear Setup. You'll see a guy in a blue lab coat standing next to a Toyota 3rd memeber. It's by FAR the most informative video. Watch it about 10 times. Then start trying.
