I'm headed to AF canyon tomorrow for the first time. Anyone have some trail recommendations for me? Is Tibble the best place to unload? I'm looking to to 2-4 hours of singletrack. Thanks!

Start at the east side of Tibble, cross the bridge and take trail 42? up to the top to 157 which is the ridge. You can ride north or south there. North will take you over above Forest lake. South you can hit 252 down towards Cascade springs and head back to the summit parking lot, then take 157 back to 41. Lots of options. You can ride most of the single track there in 4 hours.

I'm probably going to ride AF Wednesday afternoon. I rode 74 miles Saturday above Bear Lake. Had to climb Snow Slide Hill three times because it was so much fun. I absolutely love my new bike. It is so nice to be able to pull up to a gas station and put premium in the tank. They claim the oil reservoir will hold enough oil for 3 fuel tanks full of fuel. The counter-balancer and TPI are a game changer in my opinion. I held out on the TPI not wanting to do it but then I rode one.

This was my first race back since my back injuries and my 4th dirt bike ride this year!

Brian and I both pre-registered within the first 15 minutes it opened so we got line up together on row 1. I hadn't been that unprepared for a race in a long time but I'm so happy I've rehabed myself enough to feel comfortable trying to race. My plan was simple to just cruise and ride a safe race and enjoy myself. The course usually is chocolate cake in the mountains and smooth elsewhere.
The best laid plans...
It hasn't rained up there in months and it was dry and full of silt.
The first test I was slow but tried to just practice being smooth through the grass turn track.
The second test was rocky and the rut was deep.
The third test was up in the mountains and steep. They had cut a new section through sage brush and the arrows were knocked down so I did a couple circled to find the way. The trees where amazing and tight and fun.
I cruised through the transfer sections so I had time to sit down and eat a sandwich and have a drink of Gatorade before the next 3.
The next 3 were longer and more silty. I cruised fast through 4. But started to fade fitness-wise the second half of 5 was like moon dust through a dry wash. 6 was full of muddy river crossings and dry as a bone everywhere else. Mud then dust then mud then dust equates to lots of build up on the bike.
And I started to hand cramp and charlie horse in my leg.
I pushed through and finished strong and I'm so glad to wake this morning to normal back pain that isn't crippling so maybe I'm still progressing toward full strength!
Thanks for reading. It's good to share the struggle and get it out of my head
