I figured running a strong magnet over them and then taking them out to a shooting range would be a good time. :D But then again, that would be a mess to clean up.

Fortunately our new home is furnished, so I don't have to buy anything, but it's definitely weird reversing this. Work has gotten too complicated sharing a single room with an infant. If I didn't have to work and have video conferences, we'd continue and keep travling. But with my line of work, I need to be able to have video conferences without waking a baby, or without a screaming baby in the background. It's been an awesome ride, and I'm so glad we did it. We saved a ton of money, met some incredible people, had a ton of adventures, and really grew together as a couple. I'd like to keep the minimalist mentality/lifestyle for the rest of my life. I'll make a video about the transition.

Great thread. I'm beginning my minimalist journey now. I'm 15 months from retirement eligible (age 55!) and I'm planning on moving into a motorhome. My preference is a class B (Sprinter type) but I'm still working out the details of what I think my life will be like.
I do want to have my Jeep accessible but not necessarily being towed all the time (considering finding someplace to store it indoors, along with some tools that I would like to keep. That would have to be staged somewhere out west). A class B can tow the rig but I also want to haul 3 bicycles, a stand up paddleboard, various hiking and running gear, etc. I won't be using the Jeep all the time and the only value to having it with me all the time is if I am in a much larger RV that I leave set up as a basecamp.

Anyway, good to read through other's journies.

Well, I better get to work on downsizing, although technically I have already started that process with reduction in number of bicycles, sold my kayaks, hauled off two trailer loads of junk. Anyway, I'm about to pull the trigger on a Ford Transit van from VanDOit. It will include the Quigley 4x4 conversion. I almost added on the Aluminess front and rear bumpers but at ~$5000! I figured I know someone who could build me something that I would actually like better.

Everything we own in a 7x16 trailer ready to drive across country (again almost two years later). Not bad for a family of four, two large dogs and a cat. Feel pretty good about the amount of stuff I/we own aside from me not owning a dirt bike—that has been killing me haha. Cannot wait to be back in Utah 😎

But stuck more often.
I was reinspired this when I visited a client of our’s estate this past week. The main house is 12000 sq ft and it has four guest homes all in the range of 4000 to 5000 sq ft. All five homes were fully stocked with everything from clothes to food, all the time.
The original estate owners sold the place and moved to SLC last summer. Their house management team only needed to rent the smallest uhaul truck to move the items they wanted to take with them.

Some 28-30,000 sq ft of homes and the smallest truck. I moved last month and it required uhaul’s biggest truck to load up our 2400 sq ft home. 😳

This has been at the forefront in our house. I am working towards finishing the basement, which means the 20 years of free storage space has to be emptied.

I bought a truck last summer that I wanted sooo bad. However, it caused a lot of parking headaches and I resold it. I couldn’t handle the stress of having too much. Now I’ve bought 2 SxS’s and they are just as bad. It’s causing real drama in my life, and I am working on a solution for it.
