Anyone had a vehicle ceramic coated? It's stupid expensive, they offer different level$ of protection. I got a quote for the base level and it's $600! There are plenty of DIY kits out there, too.... starting at $150. Wondering if this is worth doing to the Gladiator, to keep scratches at bay.

I have a customer that just had his panamera done he did a paint correction and ceramic coating it was almost three 3k. I looks amazing I wonder if it has the durability that they claim though. He daily drives his so in a year I’ll be able to get some honest feed back his is a 3 year coating. I’ve been using mothers cmx biweekly it’s a little bit of work on a black vehicle compared to other spray on products but I’ve noticed it’s much easier to clean.

In the next week or two I’m gonna clay bar our new car from what Ive read it’s time we’ll spent.

I have no affiliation with this shop this is just his car after it was done.

Clay barring makes a HUGE difference. That said, it’s a ton of time and effort. It’s actually what turned me to just paying to have cars detailed. I loved the results, but I hated the tedium of doing it myself.

I’m curious where you have your cars detailed and what’s the neighborhood of what it costs? I need to have my 4Runner detailed and there’s no way I’m putting forth the effort to do it myself :rofl:

Anyone else notice Toyota paint sucks? On both of my Tundras and my 4Runner, they get little surface rust spots. They rub off with just a dry rag, but it drives me nuts. None of our other vehicles have ever done this, just the white Toyota’s.

It’s the brake dust metallic . Wax will help it clean up easier.

I get the spots in weird places like up on the rear tail gate plastic spoiler. Not sure how brake dust would be getting up there. Or on the top of the front grill. It only happens on my white Toyota’s. Even my black or charcoal Toyota’s (of the same age) I’ve had didn’t get the same spots. I figured it was something with their white paint and our climate here. :confused:

Used to be that white wasn't clear coated. I don't know if they still do the paint that way, but if they do it technically has one less layer of paint than any other color.

My white Ford does the same thing. I chalk it up to other people's brake dust. (aka road grime)

I had my 4Runner done before I went on the Ghost Town Tour. The Detailer that sold me on it told me it would protect the paint from brush scratches because of its hardness, he told me to bring it back after the ride and he would clean it up. I paid the price and had it done, it took 2 days of clay bar cleaning, polishing/buffing and then the application of the product, they made the runner look better than new even though it was basically new (8500 miles). On the ride I scratched it up pretty good. I took it in and let them clean it up and the results were amazing, nearly if not all of the scratches came out of it. Bottom line I am very happy.

I have done my personnal vehicles and its amazing, Its also very easy to do yourself. You just have to make sure the vehicle paint is fully corrected and then prepped before you apply it. I keep meaning to ceramic coat my boat but I havent been willing to dedicate the time just yet.

I use almost exclusively Adams products, Recently I discovered a local store called Detail supply right on 7200 south and State street behind Shane Company. The guys there were very knowledgable and pricing was on point.
