Any thoughts on the New T-Case from Midnight Metal Works?

Watched a video on Bleepin Jeep about it. Has some nice features like swapping from driver's to pass drop with no flip or additional parts.

Also said a NP205 case was in work. If similar to the D300 version, should be pretty nice.

I know they're becoming insanely popular in the portal axle comp scene. @skippy has one for his new car and let's just say I was blown away by how expensive they are... but they fill a niche nicely for those that want Atlas-ish strength in a smaller package.

My complete case with shipping was $3854 if I was building anything but a moonbuggy on portals with a 1.4 engine I would 100% buy an atlas. An Atlas can be had for 2500 bucks. The shifting mechanism in the midnight case is less than ideal. Probably ok for the guy that puts his car in 4wd and wheels the trail but for us guys that shift the T case every 15 feet they just arent up for the abuse. Obviously we can negate that but when dropping that kind of money on a case and then having to fix it before you even run it is kind of silly.

I believe the Atlas wait time is currently 6 months or more. That should definitely drive some sales to Midnight

Current Atlas wait time is 16 weeks, I have been waiting 10 weeks SO FAR for my midnight case...

shifting mechanism has still gotta be better then the behemoth drivetrain case? #3854 is pretty spendy though.

Interested in exactly what problems it has shifting. Seems like it should be a standard D300 shifting set up.

The shift forks are about half as thick as they need to be. We just laminate them with AR plate to stiffen them up. Pretty simple fix really.

This is not accurate, our shift forks have been AR500 plate since case #3 was made, they have always been 1/4” plate. There’s no room to laminate more materials, Our case shifts so smoothly and so easily you could shift it with 1 finger, there’s a video on our owners page showing just that. This case was designed for competition use and there’s plenty of guys running our case who can show how easy it is to shift. Im not interested in arguing in this thread, If someone wants to know the extent of the work that went into making my midnight case shift correctly I will happily respond to DMs. I can say with absolute certainty I know of atleast 3 midnight cases that took the same reworking as mine did.

I don't doubt you. I know nothing about the midnight case.
I was wondering if you'd ever laminated a stock set of d300 shift forks? If that helped shifting performance under load.

We did discover there are issues with have the rails come out of the back of the case here at midnight metal works. The current fix for it is custom shift forks that we will provide to any customers that need them some cases got shipped with the rails our of the back of the case that need the custom forks to make the detent shift properly.

I have no clue what Skippy is talking about laminating them that's not even a proper fab term does he mean plateing, gussetting? If Any issues are found with out case we will gladly warranty them and make the appropriate upgrades hell we just find ways to upgrade with every batch. I current shift forks have a chromoly collar and ar500 plate and are way stout than the cast one in atlas. We will soon be taking some bad ones out and shooting them to show how durable they are. These are the offset forks for rear shift rails.
