With the saga of the concrete at my rental past me...I began working on the fence after I recovered from Covid. I also laid sod on both lawns that were junked by concrete guys (as well as weed infested) and laid new sprinklers. I still have the backside to do (pickets on both sides) But overall I am very happy with it. I went with 3/4"x 5.5"x 6' pickets - prestained with oil stain and will add a top board to make it look complete and keep the weather out as much as possible.

My yard stared this way at 6:30 this morning. I had to finish plumbing for 2 sprinkler stations, bore under the sideway in one more place, and get a lot of dirt removed.
We had tried to save as much of the rock that was once in front of the new garage door as we could, so we used that again, planted our grasses, and got the diamond plate planters in place. We have more rocks to move into place, but at some point the sun just gets too hot and we get too tired... and I think an 11 hour yard day is enough.
It doesn't look like it in the photo's, but believe me.. Each of the planters are EXACLTY level and square, and perfectly spaced.

The yard is a mess waiting for a pool to get dug in November. Those sunflowers flourish with zero water all summer, it’s amazing really.

Spent the day putting up drip edge and prepping for roof panels to go down. Hoping to get half the roof done next weekend.

Are you attaching gutters? Usually when we were not doing gutters we always spaced the drip edge about 1/5" off the fascia and then shingles would be a 8th-1/4" off the drip edge. Makes is almost impassible for rain to roll back and down the fascia.

No gutters. Itll be a metal roof so the roof panels will extend 1.5 inches past the drip edge to keep water off the facia as much as possible.

We are finishing a portion of our basement for a vacation rental. Plumber wanted $1600 to cut and remove the concrete Then fill it back in. I told them no thanks. I am into it about $200 in rental fees and my time. Now they can do their part of adding drains for the kitchen sink and laundry. And we will fill it back in with dirt and concrete.

But stuck more often.
My neighbors company got the contract for replacing all our towns street lights. The city wants warm, not daylight. Crazy. Anyways He’s been bringing a bunch of the used ones home and gave me a few of them. I looked them up and they are $1960.00 each if I were to buy them. They are not ideal for my “low” carport, but for free they are worth a try. The electrician wanted $6500 to run wires, so guess what I’m doing next?
Oh, painted them to match the roof purlins.

That's actually a bargin....not that I would pay it if I had the time. I was charged a red $3700 to have concrete cut and the sewer line fixed in a rental. It was only approx. 6-10' of work and the 2 plumbing guys(kids really) a had it done in 5 hours. It sucks I was under pressure and could get more bids but the flooded basement meant I needed it fixed ASAP and they probably knew it.

I will be joining this thread in the near future. Once my wife arrives and finally moves in with me, we plan to do a number of home improvement projects, inside and out. This will be new for me, because I have never done so much as paint a wall in this home (or any home, for that matter). But she is very comfortable doing crafty type stuff, and I'm willing to learn, so off we go.
Our first planned interior project: install a new sink/vanity combo in the guest bathroom to make it more wheelchair accessible for when my mother comes to visit. (Her next visit will be November, so we've got very little time to make this happen.) If we get really fancy, we might also paint the bathroom while we're at it. Maybe.

LOL. Not quite. I had offered to help move her stuff across the country immediately after the wedding, but she decided she'd rather use that time to take a honeymoon/vacation trip instead. Since that used up all my vacation time, I had to return to Utah and get back to work... so now she's driving the moving truck solo. Due to a few circumstances, she probably won't arrive here until next weekend.
