I was just giving my neighbor a hard time for not using his and he said he was about to drain it for the summer.

So, for you experienced hottub owners, do you use it in the peak of summer? I want to, but every time I do I get irritated at how hot it is outside and in the tub.
I almost want to make it a cool tub for the summer.
When I owned one I loved using it in summer. Cooled it down to like 98 and really enjoyed relaxing when the sun went down.

We haven’t used ours in about a month and a half and I have been battling a foaming problem since March and have not been able to get in front of it. This problem began when I was out of town for a week and my wife had family in town that used it a couple of nights without shocking it afterward. Oils and lotions are the worst thing to deal with when it comes to water issues. It’s time to drain it completely, clean it and refil.

With the colder weather coming back, we’ve put in a few good tub nights.
I’ve bought a suction cup phone holder so I can sit and watch moto races while I soak.. but the other night with the kids we blutoothed to my job site radio and watched a movie. It’s was a little hard to see, but worked fine.
Tonight was a very cold rain, so I took an umbrella with me. It was fun to hear the rain but not have it in my eyeballs.

I’m kind of conflicted on making any upgrades around the tub.
-it was fun to watch a movie and it might be fun to put up an outside tv… but I’m sure my neighbors had to hear it also.. and that would make me angry to have to listen to if I were them.

-it would be nice to add a pergola to keep the sun, rain, and snow off it.. but then I lose the open sky.

- when the wind is blowing it gets pretty chilly up top so I want to build a wind wall.. but when there is no breeze it’s too hard to breath in the steam.. so I want more air..

The whole being naked in your backyard thing got old within a couple uses. But now it’s super frustrating when the kids are awake because I have to wear a suit. It’s soooooooo annoying to have to wear a wet suit through the house and peel it off me to get undressed!
I was also pretty nervous about a neighbor peeking at us.. but now I’m like meh. If they want to see a fat guy with a little sausage, let ‘em. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Anyway.. that’s my first world problems rant tonight.

What do you guys use to protect the finish of the exterior and cloth cover of your tubs. Ours is getting significantly faded on the plastic sides, and I'm sure the cover could use something for it..

Well I bought 303 aerospace protectant for the sides, and 303 outdoor fabric for the cover. It seems like some of the spa stores sold that as their preferred chemical. We'll see how it goes.

Not really tub related.. but I wanted to compare plastic protectant products.
Sc1 vs 303 aerospace.
The sc1 for sure does a better spray and even coverage, and covers up the left over dirt in the plastics.
The 303 is more difficult to apply, and does not cover up dirt as well.
The sc1 is a high gloss. The 303 is a mat finish.
I left a tape line for untreated comparison
