It's just day 5 for me, but so far everything has come from just out of my walk in closet. I have day 6 ready to go as well, so all 21 items from the closet..
But even more betterer, is that I have just moved a buch of items to where they SHOULD go. Example being boxes full of gun parts to the gun closet. Many boxes of ammo to the ammo shelves.
The ammo in the bedroom closet took up a major portion of a shelf.. but when added to the ammo shelves in the gun closet, they made no impact. So just being 'cleaner' is helpful.

Between Christmas and new years we had a wedding and 2 birthdays to deal with.. so I lost track of my counting days.. but I was still very proactive about tossing unneeded items. I’ve got the kids going through the basement now, and I’ve removed 5 trash bags, and 3 large boxes full of things 😁

When I listed my stuff for sale I was going to make a joke about you guys helping me with my last years resolutions. No one bought my metal chop saw though so you all missed out on my great joke.

I've since bought a new lathe and haven't sold the other one yet so I'm down 3 tools and up one. I guess it's trending the right way.

I’ve been kinda slacking lately. At one point two years ago I could and did put ALL my families belongings into one 7x14 enclosed trailer. Now i would need a semi trailer it seems haha.

I did sell the toy hauler and all the crap that goes along with it. While most of my friends are really-really giving me a hard time for it I feel like a huge burden has been lifted. For me it’s so much less mental baggage to deal with.

2023 is going to be me trimming a lot more of the excess and keeping things simple. Well that’s the plan anyway we’ll see how it goes.

I spent some time in the shop yesterday, most of it organizing. By thinking just a little smarter I was able to save a lot of space and future mental storage.
Just a silly example: in my former life, I bought a lot of screws. Building decks / repairing doors / fencing / etc.
They have always been stored in my truck bed drawers, because that’s where I needed them. Now I don’t, and they end up on any flat surface in the garage, and have to get moved out of the way all the time.
Same with my framing nailer and boxes of framing nails.
So yesterday I combined boxes of half used screws, and have them a dedicated drawer with the nails and gun.

2 boxes of these into 1, and put in a place they can now belong. Silly little thing, but huge benefit. Did that a handful of different times, and half the shop looks better!

I'm dealing with this a lot recently. Had someone give me a whole bunch of scrap metal that filling my garage and need to build a rack for.... My wife kept asking me when I picked it all up "Well what are you gonna use it for?" and my only reply was "I don't know yet but I'm sure I'll find something eventually!" She is not happy that her parking spot in the garage is currently taken up by it all...

When we were getting ready to move I had the free scrap pick-up guys come take a TON of metal from me. I was happy with cleaning up the garage but I'm not gonna lie, I've definitely missed some of that metal...

I threw away about 50 pounds of nails and screws today . I did not count them individually as items.. but it was nice to clear the space a bit.

Funny part is, that if I actually even knew that I had most of them, which I didn't.. I would not have even used most of them at all in any situation. Most were odd ball or unique nails/screws that grandpa probably bought for a specific project.
