i have a yaesu ftm300dr that I was thinking of selling. I used for a few months and decided I didn't like it. $400
That's on the high side of what I wanted to spend, but I'm tempted. I don't know how often I'd actually use that APRS, but the nerd in me wants it bad.

Echoing Dempsey, what didn't you like?

Those of you with dual receive, how often do you find yourself using that? Looking around that seems like the one thing I might want to add to my list.

the 300dr is an easy to program radio but the screen is tiny... I have the ftm-100 that everyone wants and I like that screen better. The ftm-400 and the new 500 have large screens and I would probably go to one of those but they have discontinued the 400 and the 500 is just outrageous in price. For what I do the 100 is perfect except it doesn't have the dual receiver so I can't do aprs and talk at the same time. So I use my cellphone for APRS.

I will be setting up an APRS repeater on the top of Medicine Butte in Evanston soon. it should cover the whole area and down highway 150 and over to bear lake. There is one in Kemmerer that it will share space with. I look forward to installing it and putting the new weather station back up there. The last weather station couldn't handle the 50-70 mph winds.

just found out about a new handheld that looks to be a step ahead of the Baufeng.
Watch the video then also check out his other ones to see a minor flaw...

Anyone want a Baefeng for cheap? Its yellow...

Gigaparts will sell you one with the mod for an extra $50.

All my Baofengs came that way but I don't think they do any more. I've never tried to use them that way. I had the mod done to my FTM-400XDR when I bought it but have never tried to use it for GMRS either. FWIW, my FTM-400XDR is on it's way back from the Yaesu repair center (unrelated) and they didn't say boo about the mod.

The FT-60 is a good little radio. I have a programing cable, software and a pretty good file already setup if you wanted to program it.

I also have the same for the FT-70.
Pretty happy with my FT-60 as well. I've had it for a few years now, and those things are built like a tank. I've also got some presets available if you want to take them. Just a .csv file you can import into Chirp.
