    January 6th, your opinion.

    Sounds boring.

    New DD/tow rig?

Yep! I looked at a deleted 2013 Dodge Cummins last week. Older truck with high miles, but it has been without DEF and EGR blocked most of its life. If it were a manual transmission I'd have been tempted. So replacing the valevtrain parts is considered preventative maintenance on a Dodge...

    New DD/tow rig?

Pretty sure I don't want a new diesel truck... as I sit on the side of the freeway, after my work truck (2012 F550 6.7 Powerstroke) just lost power when it went into regen mode. I think all the emissions add-ons (DEF, exhaust filters, EGR) cause 90% of the engine issues with modern diesels.

    New DD/tow rig?

Yeah, the round shifter on the dash is a big dislike. One of my concerns with the Hemi engine is if you're not on top of your oil changes when they due, the lifters are prone to collapsing. Catherine isn't the best at getting her oil changed when it's needed, so that causes some concern for me.

    New DD/tow rig?

Good to hear, Mike! I'm leaning heavily towards the GM 6.2 and 10 speed auto in a 1500.

    New DD/tow rig?

That matches my impression pretty well, being a smaller displacement motor I kind of figured that it needed higher RPM's to move heavier loads. Perhaps we'll reconsider a Hemi Dodge, I really do like that 8 speed transmission. I was able to spend some time driving a newer rental Dodge with...

    Dirt Muscle Car

Speaking of Chevelle's.... I did see this thing the other day, its sitting on 4 1/2" lift spindles! 😲 Seems like too much height, but check out that ground clearance!!

I dig it! Bet it's fun on the rough dirt roads outside of town, load up all your friends and blast around in the desert!

    New DD/tow rig?

The 10 speed was added in.... 2018, IIRC? I drove a 2017 F150 with the 6 speed and 2018 with the Coyote and 10 speed and it was just... ok. It seems very high strung, to me. It's pretty small displacement for the power output, IMO.... makes me concerned about longevity? I'd much rather have more...

    New DD/tow rig?

I've been pretty damn impressed with my 6.0 engines in personal trucks and work trucks, they are simple, reliable and powerful. And with the 6 speed transmissions, get pretty respectable mileage. My '11 and '09 2500's with 6.0's and 6 speed autos seem to average 15-16 MPG and if driven right...

    New DD/tow rig?

If it got 18 MPG, Catherine would be all over it. She's the one that has to pay to fuel it up!

Yeah, that's where I'm at now.... just trying to see if I'm missing anything else that would fit our needs.

    New DD/tow rig?

85 and 91, added octane booster on the 2nd tank of 91 octane. Made no change in the overheating issues with either octane. There's a very obvious cooling issue with the EB and from what I could find after hours of research, it's quite common with higher mileage EB's and after changing out the...

    New DD/tow rig?

I haven't looked into the new Tundra engine, honestly didn't even know that they were building a twin turbo engine. I just don't know that I can trust a new engine that hasn't been out for a couple years, with 100k+ miles put on by other people at this point. The Tundra has never been a truck...

    New DD/tow rig?

We're considering a new truck for the wife, it will be her DD and will see occasional tow duty pulling our camper and the car hauler, probably some mild offroad adventures (Baja), etc. Her current 2015 Ford F150 EcoBoost has been a let down in the towing department, as it overheated badly last...

Would you trust a Harbor Freight torque wrench?

I couldn't find the link at Lowes, so the HD link had to suffice. Same thing though! Kobalt seems like a good, reliable brand.
