Sorry I was wrong:o The new law does state that the fender only has to cover 50% of the tires width but the rear mud flap still has to cover all of the width. Go figure.

The rear mud flap has to cover all of the tire's width and half it's height. Also, the tire can't extend further than 1" outside the fender, front or rear.

Anybody out there ever swapped a FI motor into an older Toy? Maybe a Buick V6 or a 4.3? Just looking for some heads up on the easiest swap and any problems you had.

I was on #11 when you drove out of those two near forward rolls coming down that notch. I thought you were going over for sure. Shows you what I know. Can I copy your roll cage? :D

Maybe just add another piece of 2X2 or something to thicken the overall height to 4.5". It would reduce your departure angle but be legal.

Greg, read section 41-6-148.33 of the Utah Criminal and Traffic Code. You won't find "factory" in the code. The bumper has to be 4.5" in vertical height. This is the only problem I see with yours. If the vehicle did not come from the factory with a rear bumper it is not required.

Sounds like a fun trip. I've always wanted to run the Rubicon. I buddy of mine used to drive truck and when I spoke with him about this trail he said he might be able to hook us up w/ a 40' flat bed to trailer several rigs to the trail. Just a thought.

Oh yeah, I forgot, we have another Scout coming down Friday. It's a TravellAll with about 6" of lift and 35" Swampers. This group is getting bigger every day:)

Update on the Scout Greg, It's green/rust colored but it'll have a fresh SOA lift. I'm talking him into 35's. The SOA will give him about 4" of lift so we'll see how it flexes and pick some tires to fit. We were getting the American Ingenuity truck ready today and it ramped 1K w/ oh so much room...

I just talked w/ the boys and they can't come down until Friday night. We can run Rusty Nail together Saturday morning and maybe a Hell's Revenge night run:D

We're doing a spring over and a rear locker in a friend's '76 Scout...gettin' ready for Moab next week. I can't come down Sunday:(

Thanksgiving Point at 3 sounds good. I spoke with the boys and they want to come down but probably not until after work on Thursday. We'll be in a '76 Scout, I don't know the color, and I'll have my blue '79 Toy. We'll be there before 3 ready to go :)

The tires are 38.5X14.5R15 Swamper TSL SX's. They're mounted on 15X12 8 lugs. He wants $1100 for everything and he said he'd break up the set.

If you're not set on 40's I know where you can get some 38.5's. What do you think I'd need lift-wise to run a 38? It would probably be best to go to crossover steering too. And SuperBirfs.

$395 is the cheapest I've ever seen a Detroit advertised for. Install is about $200. I need to find the 5.29's now and do it all at once :D
