    welding a tie rod/drag link

I'm welding up a drag link and tie rod, using parts from Ruff Stuff. I'm not at all worried about my welds failing, but I am wondering if the threads in the weld-in bungs will warp or deform in any way when I weld them in. Should I screw in the tie rod ends to weld the bungs? Or am I better off...

    South-East Utah Moab

Sure, come on out. I'll PM you my cell number. What level of trails are you wanting to do? I'll have a couple drivers with me that are not super-experienced, so we won't be doing anything really ultra-nasty, though we will do challenging stuff.

Not sure yet. Was going to rent a house, but two guys bailed on the trip. Not renting a house for just one or maybe two people. Motel I suppose.

    South-East Utah Moab

We don't really have a set itinerary, though there are a few trails we like to do every time we come out. And one of the guys will have a rental Jeep, so we'll be slightly limited in what we will do.....

I have two sets of Macs, been using them for @3 years now. Great quality and really not that expensive. And made here in the US.........

    6BT Cummins

I won't say it can't be done (with enough effort/time/money nearly anything is possible), but it would require some serious body/frame mods. And in the end, it wouldn't really be useable (don't know if that's a concern for you.....). The 4BT is a far better choice for a functional 4x4. And...

    exhaust stack kit

You can check with companies like Heartthrob or Magnaflow, but you'll likely have to have someone custom bend some tubes for you. Dodge didn't sell very many of those trucks, so it's not likely anyone has a replacement-style kit for them......

    South-East Utah Moab April 2013

Thanks, it should be a really good trip. Was there once before, in 2004. Been trying to get back there ever since...... The only problem with Moab is once you go there, nothing back here really compares......

    South-East Utah Moab April 2013

Thanks, I will. The deposit isn't a problem. I was hoping some folks would chime in with info on places they had stayed while there. Really wouldn't be too much of an issue, except for bringing the 3 tow rigs out.

    South-East Utah Moab April 2013

OK, we're making the trek from Pennsylvania to Moab in April 2013. 8-10 people and 4-5 Jeeps. We're looking to rent a house or maybe a condo while there. I've been looking over the moab-utah and vrbo sites.....found some possibles, but I'm wondering if any of you know of any other housing...

    Dana 60 Hub Help

If none of those suggestions is productive, look for the BOM number on the axle tube (Bill Of Material). Then look it up on Dana's web site......it'll give you all the specs of that axle.

Kelderman Air Ride sells air-ride kits for trailers. Though I don't know if they are application-specific or universal kits. If you do it let us know how it works out.......and take pics.

tire carrier pics Sorry it took so long......... The last pic I included as something you may want to incorporate into your carrier....I extended the tubing out through the wheel center. This gives you something to carry the weight of the tire (35's are heavy! Or maybe I'm just getting old....)...

    Towing a JK

Just be aware that many states are requiring the use of a Brake-Buddy device (applies the brakes on the towed vehicle) for flat-towing. These are kind of expensive, but probably cheaper than a trailer.

    2wd vs. 4wd

A 2wd truck will tow as well as a 4wd.......unless you're towing where you actually need 4wd, then it will suck. It is rarely cost-effective to try to convert from 2wd to 4wd. If you score the truck and the parts for the conversion cheap, and can do the work yourself, it could be reasonable...
