    XJ winch bumper

Here is an update on the progress of the bumper. If anyone would like to make one for themselves, I could be persuaded to share the DXF file to make this. If you don't have a CNC machine, I would be willing to trade cutting your steel for weeding my vehicle storage area. :)

    XJ winch bumper

I saw that as a problem, so I only cut the holes the size of the bolt.`Same thing on the winch bolt holes... no slide adjustments there either.

Shop build - metal or wood?

I have actually done 8 of these 24 foot building sections now. The last one I did using my transmission jack instead of the tractor, but the walls were only eight feet on that one instead of ten feet. I finished the whole section in 3 days with the help of my Mexican gardener.

Shop build - metal or wood?

I used a different technique for my shop. I built the roof on the ground... frame and sheeting, and then I picked one side and welded a wall, then the other side. Finally, I welded a crosshatch of rectangular steel for a floor, and filled it full of cement. The building department gave me...

    XJ winch bumper

Not too concerned about the looks just yet... mostly this was just an excuse to practice using my plasma cutter. Not sure it was worth the time spent considering I could have bought the kit from JCR for 300 bucks.

    XJ winch bumper

I got tired of trying to find some plans online, so I pulled off my bumper and made some drawings of the various parts... frame reinforcements, winch mount, etc, and then cut everything out of 3/16ths steel. This is what I have so far. All of the structural parts are there. The rest is just...

    XJ winch bumper

Yeah... I think it could be pretty easily modified to include that. Are there any plans online for a better design? I have my own cnc and could make the plates fairly easily if I didn't have to program everything.

Ahhhh... I see what you mean... this kit has what you are saying, I think. http://www.jcroffroad.com/product/XJB/DIY-XJ-F-WN.html

    XJ winch bumper

http://www.dirtboundoffroad.com/extreme-winch-diy-bumper-jeep-cherokee-xj.html Has anybody tried this? I have a 97 XJ that could use this. I'd be interested to hear some opinions on it.

Lookin for somebody with a shop press...today

I have a press and an MAC impact gun that I use to take harmonic balancers off of BMW engines. It's the only tool I know that will do it.

96 ZJ steering box work in 95 ZJ?

The car I'm trying to fix is a 4.0 with a 242. The parts car is a V8 and probably has a 249, I imagine. I have a 97 4.0 engine core if you are interested.

96 ZJ steering box work in 95 ZJ?

I've got a bad steering box on my 95 ZJ, but car-part doesn't indicate that I can use the one off of the 96 ZJ parts car that I have. Does any one know why not?

    axle transplant

I've decided to part out a 96 ZJ V8 rather than fix it..... too little time. Are the axles worth saving? I have a 6 cylinder 95 ZJ and a 97 XJ that are candidates for the transplant. Are these axles likely to be any better than what they have?

    next rig, FZJ80??

It turned out that the car was shaking because the rear axle was slightly bent. The right side showed two degrees toe out which had caused the rear tire to be worn to the cord on the inside. The bent axle couldn't have happened when the car was stolen. It would have taken a few thousand miles to...

    next rig, FZJ80??

I picked the rig up in Vegas this weekend. It was missing a tire, so I took down two good tires from the rollover, plus 2 rims that I was able to buy matching tires for down there. The only problem was, when I picked up the rig, not only was a wheel missing, but the studs were all broken as...

    next rig, FZJ80??

I paid 500 plus auction fees for the wreck, and 3900 plus fees for the LX450. The auction activity seems noticeably down... probably because of the economy. I expected to pay more.

    next rig, FZJ80??

I picked up the wreck today... it does have the lockers, and it looks like the axles are not in too bad of shape. I swung by cruiseroutfit's house on the way home and he said I dun good. The axles will be going into this car which I bought today at the Las Vegas auction. This one is...
