I've decided its ok to justify a single seat buggy since I own a 2 seat buggy already.

I don't have many parts so it will take awhile gathering all the little things.
I only had 200' of DOM, 14B, smb 350(mock up), and a broken turbo 350 when i started this.

The plan.

A new project. Need

14 b rear have
dana 60 front have
5.3 vortec have
gto ls oil pan have
Engine harness and computer reworked have
turbo 350 have
torque converter have
tubing have
front rcv axle shafts have
atlas have
Coilover springs have
Limiting straps hav
battey have
fuel system have
seat have
heims have
rear brakes
DE ram have
orbital valve have
steering wheel have
LED light bar have
Drive shaft parts have
pinion yokes
Tires have
wheels\beadlocks have
wheel spacers have
ehaust\header parts have
front Spool have
rear spool have
gears have
1\2 million small parts have
rear axle shafts have
4 remote res coilover have
shifter have
drive slugs have
winch have
radiator have

I'm pretty much going to try and rip off the 4 locked films single seater buggy. It such a super sexy machine that I have had a crush on since before I owned a 4 wheel drive vehicle.

I started with the 14 b that I got 3 years ago from trading a 203 which was gave to me for free.

This will be a rear engine buggy so I started by cutting it up for an offset housing and shaving it.
I didn't want to turn the ring gear and figured it would be close to the tire so I gave it a mild shave and welded some 1/2" plate to itPhoto362.jpgPhoto364.jpgPhoto373.jpgPhoto370.jpg

The short end that was cut off was turned down to fit into the house and the long side got a 12" slug 3/8" thick to splice to the tube left in the housing.Photo376.jpgPhoto377.jpgPhoto378.jpgPhoto012.jpg

I hole sawed 1.5" hole in some 3/4" flat bar, welded in some 1.5 solid round stock and turned it down to match the 14 b carrier bearing races to make a poor mans alignment pucks.Photo018.jpgPhoto030.jpgPhoto028.jpg

Awesome. After owning mid engine sand cars I have always wanted a mid engine rock buggy. I can hardly wait to see how this happens thanks for sharing,

How about a 14 bolt rather than the 60 front?
I thought about it. I drive some what mild and it will be lighter in the front and driving on the drive side of the gear (high pinion) so I think will hold up just fine.

I'm going to use 35 spline shafts for the rear 14b. I have an old 35spline carrier out of yj-auzzys old front 60 that I'm going to take the side gears out of and turn them down to fit in the 14b carrier and just weld it.

who has had custom shafts made and who did use?

35 spline, full floaters, with 14B hub bolt pattern, custom length? I think Dutchman would be the cheapest. The 14B splines are the same price as the 35 splines so you could stick with the 14B carrier. I don't know which splines are stronger. Probably not much difference. http://www.dutchmanaxles.com/flanged-floater-axle-pair.html
