Grand County has announced 3 alternatives of a formal wilderness proposal that they will be submitting for Congressman Rob Bishop's public lands bill.
Public comment is open to Grand County Residents only.
A public meeting is scheduled 4/23/14 at the Grand Center starting at 6pm.
All motorized access individuals living in Grand County should review the proposals for their impact on motorized recreation and share their findings with each other, U4WDA, and RME. U4WDA will be reviewing the proposals and will have comment suggestions before the 5/2/14 deadline. We probably won't have anything of substance prior to Easter Jeep Safari, but we will have copies of the maps at out booth at EJS on Friday, 4/18 for sure and possibly on Thursday, 4/17 as well.

Grand County News Release
The Grand County Council Public Lands Working Committee working group has identified 3 alternatives, along with maps, for long term designations of public lands in Grand County. These alternatives were created for consideration by the full County Council as part of Congressman Rob Bishop's public lands bill initiative. The alternatives were created based on previous public input, field trips and meetings with an array of stakeholders over the past year.
A public meeting has been scheduled for April 23 at the Grand Center to hear comments on the alternatives from Grand County residents. The meeting room will be open at 6 pm for citizens to review the maps and speak with members of the Council Study Committee. At 7 pm verbal comments will be accepted from the audience and will be accommodated by a professional meeting facilitator.
Following the meeting, citizens may again provide written comments on the alternatives to the County Council until May 2, 2014. The Council will then consider these final written comments prior to voting on an alternative to be submitted to Congressman Bishop's office for his consideration as he moves forward with his bill in Congress.
Grand County is one of several southeastern Utah counties involved with this initiative which Congressman Bishop initiated in early 2013. He has indicated he would like to present his bill later this summer for Congressional consideration.
