Bill the MutTJ

Long story short. This jeep has lots of stuff. Most of it is completely custom. I have lots of cool buddies and family that has helped me along the way to design and build this Jeep. The custom parts far out number what is left of the stock parts. At least it still looks kinda like a TJ

Specs:

Suspension

Low and lots of up travel
3 link front
4 link rear
Summit Machine flex joints
14" Fox 2.0 coil overs
Fox air bumps
Pac Springs
2" 7075 solid aluminum links
108" wheelbase
~18" frame height (I think this equates to about 2" of lift? Ish?)

Drivetrain

5.3L -> 4L80e -> TWF 3 speed Hero

Front axle: Tera CRD 60, 3.5" tubes, Reid inner and outer knuckles, Yukon zip locker, shafts and u joints, TeraFlex SlimLock hubs

Rear axle: later model E350 D60, big tubes, 35 spline shafts, zip locker

Misc
Boat sides

IH Corn Husker steering gear

Front and back halfed frame

2" x .120 wall DOM roll cage

21 gal fuel cell

Raceline Bead locks and 37" mtrs

That covers the big stuff. So much to list. The pics can do the rest of the talking. Let me know if you have any questions or want any more detailed pics and I'll see what I can do. Sorry for the random order. I just grabbed a few out of the many that I have.

Looking good Dave! I would like to see some pics of the new tin work inside.

Here's a couple pics of the interior, floor tins and framework for it. Bentley Garner is good at everything and he helped out a lot with the floor. It was good to bounce ideas off him and learn a few things as well.

Very nice.

Thanks! How's the new hut?

Awesome Dave! Can't wait to see it out on the trail!

Me too man. Me too. We're gonna have to get the nick out too.

Love this rig. Nice build. Get er done.

Thanks

Looks awesome! Diggin the 2" cage!

What made you steer clear of full hydro? :) pun

I talked with a lot of people about hydro and decided it wasn't for me for a few reasons. I didn't hearing about the "drift" and orbital has while cruising at speed. Dennis Wood said he had to constantly steer the wheel one way to maintain his course (very slowly) in his old YJ.

I really like the feedback of the mechanical setup and with the 1.5:1 steering quickener I installed it turns quickly and crisply. It definitely wasn't the easy route. But I think it was worth it.

Haha best description ever! Looks good of course. Let's get out on a trail sometime.

Definitely. I need to get shown up by a xjuggy thing on 33s [emoji16]

Cool build! I love the work on the floor. MUCH cleaner than the cut and patch job I did on mine last fall for my new t-case install. (Effort to keep a relatively flat belly)

New hut is good - but quickly filling up with projects!

LOVE the work on the floor in the MutTJ! I also like the angle you added to the Hero shifters. How much are you expecting this terd to weigh when it's done?

Thanks. I love how it turned out. I also learned I'm not a sheet metal guy. There is a big difference in the panels I made vs the ones Bentley made. I can't give that guy enough props. Also every panel is removable except for the passenger foot pan. Easy access to drive lines and tcase shifters from above...

As to the weight. I'm hoping about 4200. But I honestly don't know. I need to go weigh it one of these days. It was 4700 before and it definitely feels faster now. But I was desensitized to gm power driving a JK with 38s and 3.73 gears.

Just about every square inch under the hood is full. Nothing like cramming 10 lbs of crap in a 1 lb box. And yes. That is a windshield squirter bottle. [emoji16]

Nice work. Is Mitchell buildng it or it is just housed there?

It was housed there. He was nice enough to allow me to do trade work to rent some space. Casey Beach did the frame and roll cage work, I did the finish work and Bentley Garner helped a ton with the floor. Definitely not a cheap build, but worth it in my opinion.

You have great hands all over the project! It looks fantastic. I assume it will function flawlessly. Thanks for sharing.
