The prestigious OSRC Overall Event Winner scoring is a title dominated by winners of the rock crawl and Rock Cross race. The road to the championship is to win the rock crawl and the rock race. The combined points from each event are used determine the winner. Vehicles that are biased towards rock racing usually win their Rock Cross class. Vehicles that are biased to rock crawling win their class in rock crawling. This would give the title to the vehicle that does both well. In recent years there has been an increase in race only Unlimited and Promod class high speed vehicles entering the Rock Cross and bypassing the rock crawl. An Unlimited or Promod rock buggy cannot compete well against a race prepped KOH type car on the race track. The KOH type car does not do as well in rocks as a dedicated crawler. This has resulted in a heavy bias toward stock type vehicles winning the Overall Event title because they are competing against similar vehicles in their class during the rock race.

OSRC realizes that this inequality exists and proposes to limit scoring for the overall event winner to teams that use the same car to participate in both the rock crawl and Rock Cross events. This should even the playing field for any class to win the Overall Event title. The race prepped KOH cars can still run in the rock race and win prizes, trophies and cash associated with their class. Cars that run one event only will be excluded from the formula that scores points towards the Overall Event winner.

Teams are asked to provide their input on this scoring change.
