I've seen quite a few posts about this area, and it looks like an absolute blast. however, it seems to be 95% dirtbikes there. Are there any 4x4 trails? I don';t want to mess up what he dirt bike community has, but I want to get in on the action if there's room for our much larger vehicles.

I would not think that it would be a fun place to take a 4x4 unless you were in a trophy truck. It is mainly a motorcycle/ATV/UTV play area. There are a lot of back road opportunities in the area surrounding Hanksville however.

X2. If you decide to wheel around Hanksville it would definitely be worth driving out to swing Arm city to check it out.

I think it would be 'interesting' to take 4x4's out there.... not worth a destination trip, but perhaps if you're in the area? Let me know if you go... it's 2 hrs from me.

i agree that its not a great area for crawling, but there seem to be a ton of steep climbs and tight twisty canyons. but i want to reiterate that i dont want to mess up what the moto guys have.

Ok, twist my arm!

Your probably better on that 990 than I am on my 300

Highly doubt it! The 990 is massive, around 550 #'s and it doesn't like going airborne.... actually, it's only the landings that suck!

We ought to put together a moto/4x4 trip to Cainville one of these weekends, get a bunch of us down there and have fun!

Totally agree, I think you're smart with not wanting to step on any toes. There is a lot of info about this area, Swing Arm City is the main playground and it's an open-play OHV area... I think 4x4's would be fine. Here's a lot of info and a map about the area. - http://www.blm.gov/style/medialib/b..._butte.Par.26603.File.dat/FactoryButte_v6.pdf

Quinn Cody raced an 1190 at the National Hare & Hound race last weekend as a fund raiser for the Kurt Caselli Foundation. 95 miles of sand, washes and lots of rocks.

This video shows what the terrain was like. The 15 mile 3rd loop was wicked.

I heard about that! Was hoping you had video of him riding the 1190 in the race, you'd have to be one hell of a rider to keep that much weight and size under control in rough terrain, at speed!

There are quite a few guys on ADVRider.com that have entered their LC8's (KTM 950/990 Super Enduro/Adventures) in local enduro's and it's funny to hear about the looks and comments they get! A couple of them have actually been somewhat competitive!
