Recovery gear test day. Snow run #2

What an epic day. After reaching the Railroad bed road. We were in for a full day. Just getting down this road was fun enough. Slow going at first, could only do about 30mph safely. Plenty of slick snow/mud to get sideways and wiggly . [emoji50]

First of all big thanks to DaveN and Rubi on rocks for coming out.
Between us 3 there was plenty of road-building and teamwork involved. Id go wheeling with these guys any day. [emoji41]

Pics are uploading and storytelling here soon. For now here's a teaser.

After getting into the canyon. Had Rubi_on_rocks in the front since he had 2 lockers and newer MT's. We were making good progress.
Then about a mile up all progress stopped. I winched him back a few times to have him get another run at it. Slowly making up about 10 feet at a time. At a certain point we decided it was time for the traction mats.

A few feet later it was "time to build a road" . Laying multiple mats down and digging out the center so our axles arent pushing snow.

Total time spent on this bend in the road was about a good hour, but with good teamwork it was a Victory.

Once all 3 vehicles were parked up the road a bit in not so deep snow. We ran back to pick up the gear.

Back in the rigs we drove about another 1/2 mile, had another small stuck. As we were winching Rubi back and filling in some holes, laying down a pair of WB's .
We tossed in the idea of letting DaveN lead, with his IFS he had more clearance under the front but.... nowhere to swap rigs (deep snow on the side of trail).
It was determined it was time to find a turnaround spot further up.
Just then......
A crew of 6 jeeps from NAXJA caught up to us.
With their bigger tires and such, it was decided to let them pass and take their shot at building a road.
It was good to see a pack of XJ's on the trail. Of course im a bit biased being an owner.

Surprisingly not much progress was made .

After a bit both groups decided to call it a day and banded together to get all rigs turned around.

Then it was the long drive down an even more muddy road than it was during the morning.

Looks like I have some work to do this week.

I did start making a quick vid but trying to get it to photobucket from my computer wasn't happening.
Been awhile since I've done that.

Spent $10 at the carwash today for round 1 . [emoji50]

It was fun and good recovery training. We tested those FWB's and they did awesome.
The video is done but still trying to get my computer to cooperate.
If we get anymore snow this year I'd like to do one last snow run. This time would be the B , maybe.
(Might not have snow)

I kinda haven't had my fill of snow runs yet. If y'all are down, I wouldn't mind giving black rock another shot. This time coming in from a not so
muddy route and check out stuff by Eureka on our way home.
Also asked a buddy up north how conditions are .

I'm busy all day Saturday and want to get my front locker in on Sunday. And, I need to find time to bedline my skids and sliders that I pulled. Who wants to come help?!

I may have some free time Sunday. What kind of locker are you putting in ?

Sent from my H1611 using Tapatalk
It may not be here by Sunday after all. If not, I'm down for a run.

It is an automatic locker, made by Lokka (Aussie company).
