Looks like Im ready to start shopping for another locker.

Let's hear from you Eaton/Detroit true track users (not Trac loc).

I'll need to know a few details about my Chrysler 8.25 and install on the Dana 30.

True Track is a limited slip, not a locker. That said, it is a full carrier replacement so you will need to reset your backlash and carrier bearing preload, after you press bearings on/off the carriers.

You should re-gear at the same time since everything will be apart anyway. The 3.55 and down true trac is WAY more expensive than the 3.73 and up. The cost difference would get you part of the way to new gears

Decisions, decisions.
I do have my front 4:10's sitting here but.....
At the time right now my rig is pretty reliable and bigger tires and such just snowball's mods, repair costs etc.
I'll for sure be doing the rear true track here soon and hold off on the front a bit longer.
One thing that attracted me to the TT is no main pin, reliable and also its better than a LSD.

The 4.10s will help the 4.0 stay in the power band and you'll get better mileage. It's more up front, but you'll be way ahead in the long run.

Thats what I was thinking when I first had 4:10s .
With 31's it's overkill. It didn't want to stay in OD on the flats. Gas mileage suffered greatly. Going back to the 3:55's is when I noticed the difference. If I had 33s the 4:10's would be perfect.

Interesting fact::::; peak torque for the 4.0 is 3,200 rpm

I do miss stomping on Honda's though, getting the holeshot and leave em wondering WTH. [emoji1]

I just pulled the trigger on a pair of Eaton's through Summit . Got a good deal, free shipping and manufacturer rebates.
I just barely went over the budget, but for the pair it was a price I couldn't pass up.
Cant wait to get these in and go wheeling. [emoji41]

Sorry Mesha, I know you were trying to get me a good deal.
Seems like my jeep budget gets smaller each year.

No need to apologize, summit usually doesn't beat me and I wasn't aware of the rebates(which you still would have qualified for). Gotta go with what works best for you! Thanks for the chance.

Yes.
I've been running open diff for about a year and a half.
Missed my locker soooo bad but..... with a different driving style I've done every trail and obstacle I did with a locker. Just have to figure out how to get up without
flexing/spinning opposite corners (tires).

Snow and such though is where I suffered.

And the front came this morning.

I've never tore into a front axle before. So, I have a question.

What holds the front axles into place ? Don't see anything for a c-clip.

You got a front one also? I thought we were only installing the rear this Saturday.

Yeah, we are just doing the rear. The front will have to wait a few weeks.
It was kind of an impulse buy, I shouldn't have got it and the budget said no but....I said F---it . [emoji1]

On Saturday when we get done maybe you can give me some pointers and I can tackle the front when I get around to it.
