Favorite Trails-New Mexico four corners area, all of Moab, Hollister Hills CA....to many to list.

Other-The T-Rex is a rare rig that we try to keep nice looking for all of our sponsors yet, we still wheel the crap out of it. It has schooled many rock buggies on thier own turf, and has won many safaris. It also is excellent at rescueing stuck rigs. I am now a yearly judge at TTC, and I help set up and design the courses. I also use the T-Rex at TTC to extract stuck and dead rigs. Last year I took the T-Rex in three times into the Tank Trap to Extract the D100, the Mudder Bronco, and the huge 11,000 pounder Kaiser. That was a trip. The T-Rex is here with me in Utah, but my Tow Rig and Trailer are still down in New Mexico. The T-Rex is street legal but sucks the gas and only has a top speed on the highway of about 55. Since is has lockers on all three axles, the streets also tear up my tires, so when I can I trailer it to the trails I do.

How heavy is the beasty?

It weighs 9000 lbs. 3500 pounds of that is axles and tires. That is what makes it so stable, I have 3500 pounds, or 1/3 of the vehicle weight down low in between my tires. Since the V10 is thirsty I carry 500 lbs of fuel. It all adds up. My tow Rig wieghs 8500 stock so I Figure the T-Rex with six tires and 9K wieght it all balances out..

That thing is cool the only other one I have seen wa at the Auto Rama years ago. I think it was gold.

That is right. Dodge was planning on building these. They were prototyped in 1997 and slated for production in 2003. When the Germans took over Chrysler they canceled the project because they thought that no one would buy one, it was too much truck. They don't know us Americans very well. The 6x6 T-Rex Dodges were really made for towing. It was not wide in the rear like a dually, yet you had still four tires back there, but on two axles. It had more traction, more towing capacity, better handling, better braking, and was cool. The T-Rex's could hold 8000 lbs in the bed, and tow 26,000 lbs. It was awsome. So when they cancelled the production after only a few prototypes, I built my own with the help form a friend at Godwin Fabrication. Dodge heard about it and sponsored us. The rest is a history of fun.

Attached is a picture of one of the prototypes. The Gold one. There were only about six T-Rexs made. I had one as a tow rig and the Green Offroad version. The pictures of the White T-Rex was my tow rig.

Stan, where did you get the tent trailer. Was it a trailer that you removed the axles from? I thought about doing that, only only with an 8 footer and facing the door to the deck of the trailer.

I ll get you some more pictures. It is great. I needed a very heavy duty trailier to carry the T-Rex and all of our gear when we go to competitions and such, and none of the Toy Haulers on the market are big enough or stout enough, plus they want $40K+ for them. So I go a 14K goosneck, had them build a 6x8 deck on the neck, and then I found a pop-up witha flat bottom. Welded some mounts and built a removable deck and added stairs and whala...:rofl:You have a two story camper. The deck of the trailer we have an outdoor Kitchenette the folds on to the deck and we have a Canopy that can cover the whole deck in bad weather. That gives us 20 ft. of dance floor or dinning space for us and our friends. I built a smaller balcony deck that comes out on top by the camper and the awning hooks up to it. Great view over all the other RVs. Party deck, Lots of space, I love it.

The reason for putting the pop-up lenght wise was for several reasons: 1) You can put a bigger trailer up there, width is a problem. 2) If your pop-up camper pops to the sides, you may not fit in some RV Parks. RV park slots are kinda narrow and you dont want to be sleeping right over someone elses fire, tent, camper, Truck, prot a tpotty / sewer.... 3) tail lights are all hooked up and work with the trailer lights , so it is facing the right way. 4) alittle more stream lined when towing.
We love it and so do my kids.
