Does anyone know if there is a kit available for divorcing a Dana 300 transfercase. I need a divorced transfercase for my Mitsubishi buildup.

I had a friend who did it for an s10 that he converted from 2 wd. I can try to find his contact info but I haven't seen him for quite a while.

im 99% sure AA will build one for you. they do it for the atlas case's and i dont think they list it on there website. or you could look for a divorced model 20 from a early nissan truck.

When you say "model 20" are you refering to a Dana 20 or are you refering to the datsun 720. Can you shed any more light on the Nissan tcase, like which side does it drop on, reduction ratio, aftermarket support for lower gears etc? Thanks Spence.

the nissan's used a dana 20 ( model 20 ) transfer case. all it is, is a KIT that AA made years ago that bolted over the the texas pattern on a model 20 ( jeep or IH version ) transfer case. i have two that im going to use for a light weaght buggy that im building next.

i found these two a while back, this is the one http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=5752817 im using for my light weight buggy build and heres one that i got just for the flange and adapter as a spare

Yeah, I was aware that Datsun had some conversions done back in the early 80's but I didn't know how many or how common they were. The conversion was called a Low conversion after the Nissan/Datsun offroad driver Spencer Low. The conversions used a Dana 30 front axle and a Dana 20 Tcase. The conversions were pretty simple and straight forward.

I have a old an magazine article on these converions but it lacks detailed picks of the conversions. So were these tcases driver side drop?

Rumor also has it that the 83-86.5 Nissan/Datsuns used a divorced case straight from the factory. Kent Laboa at Six States said they were an all aluminum case and were driverside drop, but thats all the info I can dig up on these transfer cases.

you could always look for a sami case. there pretty rock solid little case's and can be geared to 5-1.
jason.

Jason, I thought the Sami cases were passenger side drop. Can the sami case be flipped or does it have a center output? Could the sami case be made to work with my driverside pumpkin?

The Sami 'case is passenger side drop (as is the 300). The way the shifter works on the Sami case isn't going to lend itself very well to flipping it though. :(
