I need a new tent. I can live with heavier tent since I have already been packing in water and food but want something that will stay dry while in the backcountry this fall deer hunting. Biggest thing is Im poor or cheap as some may see it so I don't really want to spend over $100.

Im looking at these two as they seem to fit my needs in size, weight and price. Im not sure about how water proof they are. Any feedback of ideas?

The zephyr series of tents is a really good tent for the money. I have recommended them to many of my friends.

Another great option is the golite wolf creek http://www.golite.com/Wolf-Creek-Lightweight-2-Person-Tent-P46998.aspx
It is not in your current budget, but it went on sale last year for 150, so it is worth keeping an eye on.

Another option to consider is a used tent. Find one on KSL, eBay, Craiglist, etc. You can save hundreds of dollars and end up with a tent better than the one you would be able to purchase new.

Thanks Im leaning towards the Zephyr. I have been looking for used for a few weeks but really so far it seems like I can find as good if not better deals on new. Example the Zephyr 2 person I can pick up for $100.

I stopped by REI last night the guy working didn't really have much feedback on a few of the tents I was looking at.

I have had an Alps tent for over three years - similar to the Zephyr, apart from a cross bar on the top between the poles and double doors. I've had it in downpours, snowstorms, any weather you can think, and have had zero issues with it. Light, easy to set up, roomy for what it is. I'd buy another for sure.

I've got a new Stoic (backcountry.com) 2 man tent I'll let go for cheap. It's a copy of a big agnes copper spur. I've got too many tents (I think around 8 right now), pm me if you are interested.

I like alps tents, very nice for the money.
