Bill the MutTJ

Long story short. This jeep has lots of stuff. Most of it is completely custom. I have lots of cool buddies and family that has helped me along the way to design and build this Jeep. The custom parts far out number what is left of the stock parts. At least it still looks kinda like a TJ

Specs:

Suspension

Low and lots of up travel
3 link front
4 link rear
Summit Machine flex joints
14" Fox 2.0 coil overs
Fox air bumps
Pac Springs
2" 7075 solid aluminum links
108" wheelbase
~18" frame height (I think this equates to about 2" of lift? Ish?)

Drivetrain

5.3L -> 4L80e -> TWF 3 speed Hero

Front axle: Tera CRD 60, 3.5" tubes, Reid inner and outer knuckles, Yukon zip locker, shafts and u joints, TeraFlex SlimLock hubs

Rear axle: later model E350 D60, big tubes, 35 spline shafts, zip locker

Misc
Boat sides

IH Corn Husker steering gear

Front and back halfed frame

2" x .120 wall DOM roll cage

21 gal fuel cell

Raceline Bead locks and 37" mtrs

That covers the big stuff. So much to list. The pics can do the rest of the talking. Let me know if you have any questions or want any more detailed pics and I'll see what I can do. Sorry for the random order. I just grabbed a few out of the many that I have.

Went out to 5 Mile a couple weeks ago with Matt (Tan Comanche) riding shot gun. He decided that further changes were required. So yesterday, I dragged my Jeep down to him and we went to town on it. We swapped out all 8 springs and made some more changes to the valving in the rear. Here's a quick video edit he put together from the GoPro footage he took for analysis. It's really close now. He wants to make a few more changes, and I need to adjust the suspension a little to make it more neutral...as it is, there is a slight amount of squat that sucks the rear suspension down under power and eats up a couple inches of uptravel. Also, you can see my radiator pretty much gushes coolant....time to install my new one....with advice to be leary of CBR...leaked from day one between both tanks and core. They won't warranty it because I modified the lower neck by angling it...Pretty disappointed. I really hoped that they would stand behind their product. All they wanted to do was sell me a new one. So I took my money elsewhere.

Shock tuning has been an ongoing process with Matt @Desert Speed Shock Tuning. I spent the extra money and had him work over my air bumps too. Can't wait to get out and try them. Ended up making a slight change to the suspension geometry in the rear too. Removed some squat and brought it towards a more neutral setup.

Got some new shoes too...

Look closely and you can see my brother, Russty's jeep in the background. As of yesterday it is a roller.

So the 37s were pretty crammed into the flare under full stuff.

No way 40s were going to clear. Bentley Garner is an aluminum wizard. I'm not. So. I put in a call. I had some idea of how I wanted it to work. He listened. We brainstormed. And it is gonna be totally wicked. Picture something like this.

Hello. Stumbled on your build via youtube. Love it.

Quick question. How much up-travel are you running from ride height?

Thanks! It's been a fun project! There is 8-8.5" uptravel in the front and about 6.5" in the rear. But there are some things coming down the pipeline to make the rear about 9" :)

The fenders turned out amazing, Dave! I dig the size and shape, Bentley is showing his skill as a fabricator once again!

Ben is amazing. Really is kind of disgusting how talented he is. The best way I can describe is work is hot rods meet rock crawling.

Thank you for the info. Dang. I am surprised you fit that much with the stance and engine in the front!

I can't wait to see more, keep up the good work.
