Finished the greatest memoir of WW1 or maybe any combat ever published. "Storm of Steel" by Ernst Junger who as a young German soldier survived 3 1/2 years of the horrific trench warfare on the Western Front. First published in 1920 it is the most visual and savage epic of the Hell of War I have ever read. Hard to describe and beyond imagination to even begin to understand what millions of soldiers who lived and died during this first machine war endured. Ernst Junger who survived both World Wars lived to be 103 and finally died in 1998. Junger was one of the most complex and debated personalities of the 20th Century.
