Z-71 wasnt a 3/4ton truck and never came with a 14-bolt (special order maybe). Most were 10bolt...
So I just happened to find a 6-lug 14bolt

I'm still talking 1/2-ton with the bigger semi floater. I didn't know how a person was to get it over the 10B. Mine was a Z71 without the tow package, but had the big axle.

I want to play. What about a montero or montero sport? They a relatively inexpensive and reliable. You can get one with a factory air locker and I've read that you can swap one into the sport. Add tires, a winch and catch up the maintenance and should fit your budget.

I got a Suburban and a set of 1-tons. Still going, gets 12-14mpg.

I think I'm in it just about $4k, so far so good. I should have kept my Blazer though, same setup but better for crawling. Too much of everything on a Suburban, but it can take EVERYONE and all their stuff. For a week. hahahah
