Does the vaccine or the booster actually immunize anyone? Last I heard (KSL article) the shots weren't doing anything to stop the spread, just a potential to lessen the impact once you do get covid.

I hear the same thing (lessening the impact), yet no one has been able to produce any evidence that actually support the statement. Certainly vaccinated people are dying from COVID.

This whole no taste and smell thing is interesting. The last couple of days I would not say I am getting my smell back, but I constantly have the sensation that everywhere I am is inside a casino in Vegas. I have a smell sensation of cigarette smoke a lot.

Zinc deficiency causes loss of taste and smell. Don't know if related but a lot of talk about it lately.

My wife has been dealing with the smell issues (and taste) going on 6 months. They call it parosmia. She originally had no smell/taste (anosmia) for a few months...then it came back to about 80% after a surgery in April....then went to parosmia in late May when the surgery had healed. She calls it a "Covid smell" Things smell rotten and gross....food tastes much the same. It has messed with her mood often. I can't imagine having very few foods that she can even tolerate. Mostly spice. She adds hot sauce to butter noodles, hot sauce to Snapdragon Pho....and then a few various flavors of protein bars. Overall 90% of all food is gross to her and she can't eat.....6, going on 7 months now.

Hopefully you guys and spouses don't experience the long term messed up smell.

The loss of smell and taste thing is really strange. I had rona for Thanksgiving 2020. I can legit pour gas on my hands and not smell a thing. I can stick my nose in a peanut butter jar and smell something, but not specifically peanut butter. Coffee also has a smell but not how I remember coffee smelling. I think my brain has relearned my new smell sensation, but the gas thing really is odd.
As for taste, I am still fat so there is that. I can tell some things have a muted taste but I can still differentiate between things. I put more hot sauces on everything same as Pike's wife.
I started buying good coffee lately and I can definitely tell the difference between Folgers and Black Rifle. The whole experience has made me question how much we actually smell/taste things and how much we perceive the smell and taste of things.

Lory finally slept through the night last night. She's starting to feel better.

I finally got tested for antibodies and there were none present. That means I most likely didn't have rona over Thanksgiving, didn't pass it on to Lory, and might still get it from her. I've been home with her since last Wednesday night. I'm supposed to go back to work Saturday morning.
