I bet the reason NHRA banned it is cause the lack of a cage. 10:99 OR quicker requires a roll cage.

It's only banned "if you" can crack off a 10:99 or quicker. if you want to run it in a time class and be consistent this would be the car for you.
It hard to say if one could reliably build a similarly quick car for cheaper.
