Does anyone know why....

...there are a bunch of big trucks with Trump flags, and guys wearing the Trump lifestyle-brand clothing, surrounding the ballot boxes at the Lehi courthouse? When my wife went to drop her ballot they all got out of their vehicles to go stand by the ballot box. I'm told when the guy in the f350 pulled up in front of her, they stayed in their vehicles, but when my 5'0" 110 lb wife pulled up they all got out of their vehicles in unison and walked to the ballot box.

It's kind of a blatant display of stupidity, right? Your opinion about the legality of voter suppression and voter intimidation aside, if their display of patriotism were to somehow create an extra 10% of votes for Democrats, Trump is still going to win Utah. What's the endgame?

Anyone know the reasoning here? What's the spin I'm missing? Obviously there is a good reason....are they defending the ballot boxes from a riot that's moving towards them? Is it like a blue v red game of capture the flag?

Just curious. I know some of you guys are on that side of things so maybe you know something I don't. I think both candidates are equally shitty and are simply manifestations....symptoms if you will...of a larger underlying problem that nobody wants to address. But I'd be lying if I didn't say it pisses me off that a bunch of these ****ing pussies think they can intimidate people into voting their way. There is no more cowardly and shameful display of stupidity than what she had to deal with to drop off her ballot. I think I've established that I'm not inclined to seek out situations or altercations where I need to defend myself, but had I been there, those spineless clowns would have been met with a barrage of vocabulary that they hadn't seen since they finished their sophomore year English class.

I don't know anything about it, but I'm assuming it has to do with Trump making note to guard the ballot boxes (paraphrasing here) to prevent voter fraud. Again, I don't know the details, but I imagine that they are not there to intimidate people or try to sway votes.

Just my $.02

I've largely tried to remain aloof of this political season. From my distant seat, this has appeared to be a pretty vehement election year with people just sitting in their own echo chambers trying to yell loudly enough to unsuccessfully penetrate someone else's echo chamber that has different views. My intent is not to vote ignorantly, but I don't want to be spoon fed what my perspectives should be from the "news" (large corporate opinions). I have spent a fair amount of time researching the local items on the ballot (that arguably will have a much larger affect on my life than whatever clown is sitting at the head of the country).

That said...my in-laws are riding the Trump train/Fox news train and have told me about the MASSIVE(?) concerns with mail-in voter fraud. Maybe those guys are being ever diligent in making sure some person doesn't roll up to the ballot box and dump 1500 filled out ballots in it? I dunno. Either way it sounds like their tactics could be construed as voter intimidation. No bueno.

Edit: interesting thing my parent's neighbor told me the other day when she was out on a walk around the neighborhood....She found a bunch of signed ballots that had been apparently taken out of mailboxes and vandalized. She reported them, but also noted that every single one of them only had a vote for the president. All the other local issues/candidates were blank. It was sad to me that people don't seem to recognize the importance of paying attention to local politics too. Guess maybe that requires too much work because you can't have your opinion spoon fed to you by your favorite "news" channel.

You really "imagine" that? Why is everyone so blinded by their own ****ing echo chambers? You think my wife was somehow more likely to be involved in voter fraud than the guy in front of her? It couldn't be that women, nationally, are far more inclined to vote democrat this year? I bet if my 6'3" 330 lb friend pulled up in a subaru and Biden gear, they wouldn't have gotten out of their vehicles either. Maybe we should test my theory.

This is absolutely my thoughts on the election this year.

I'm going to go with a bunch of idiots being stupid for the reason. It's not like people are pulling their ballot out of a sealed envelope and changing them because you showed up in a Trump truck. Honestly I'd consider calling the police non-emergency number and saying hey I think these guys are bordering on election interference can you go have a word with them? They can sit at the other end of the parking lot and observe just fine.

I dropped mine off in the Saratoga Springs location a couple days ago, the only vehicles around were for the fast food joint nearby and other people dropping off ballots.

"blinded by my own ****ing echo chamber"? Really Cody? For offering a point of view counter to yours (that you may be COMPLETELY overrecting to here)?

You sir, are an asshole... asshole.... asshole... (sent from my echo chamber)

I'm voting against Biden and this is total bullshit. Someone should call the police. I however doubt the demographic doing these things goes as far as to consider the voting probability of women vs men. They are the republican equivalent to "peaceful protesters."

That was my thought as well. More like they were "escorting or protecting" her. I don't know what the vibe was and I'm sure it was uncomfortable, intimidating and unwelcome but perhaps that wasn't the intent.

Providing a "service".

Since I live in Lehi, I figured I’d swing by. Not one trump truck to be seen and nobody hovering over the ballot box, so either these people were asked to leave or it was “fake news” to begin with.

Yeah I am in Lehi also, I was going to swing by on my way home as well. Regardless, not called for, no matter who you're voting for in this election.

I'd be very surprised if Cody was peddling "fake news". And him getting upset, I get it. If I heard that ANYONE was doing something like that to my wife; I'd be pissed too!
If their mentality was "escorting" ballots, a) that's stupid b) that isn't their job. If their goal was intimidation, then they're a little late to the party if they're trying to do it at a drop box! Either way these fine gentlemen are clearly not at the sharp end of the mental spear.

LOL, @Stephen.. I know Cody wasn't peddling bullshit. I do believe his wife experienced this. I'm sure that most if not all people would agree that it was uncalled for and not these peoples place. I checked it out in person. It's done... over...

Yes exactly. Because in the face of evidence directly contrary to your theory, you still hold to it. Selecting for the narrative you prefer. That's the echo chamber.

I'm sorry I came off harsh. I've always been an asshole, but I'm not stupid. If your theory made sense, then they would have been "protecting" the drop box for everyone, not selectively. So does that fact make me an asshole, or is it that I dared challenge an opinion with a fact contrary to the narrative? Those dipshits aren't helping and They make the rest of the good intentioned conservatives look like idiots. If that's the the way you lean, I'd be furious because it's shit like this that makes everyone in red look like a mouth breathing bafoon.

And maybe I'm overreacting. Not saying you specifically, But I'd like to point out all the people on this site that talk up their big bad game of defending their house and family from a threat and bla bla bla. But when someone tries to physically intimidate my wife, I'm not allowed to be mad about? I'm overreacting because you can identify with the perceived threat? It's these same cowards that spit out that big game of defending themselves, but aren't tough enough to step up to an adult man with a ballot. Sure as shit the 100lb girl was OK to step to. Complete hypocritical cowardice. Just my asshole opinion.

I appreciate you taking the time to check it out. I wish I could have been there myself, or been able to go down there. My information was second hand, but when my wife called me crying, I didn't think she was making it up.

Anyway, sorry I freaked out. This election and year can't be over quick enough.

Maybe they were there to protect your wife and figured the guy in the Ford could handle himself? From you know antifa liberal scum.

did they say anything to your wife?

For the record I don’t support this behavior.
