Toyota fj brakes on a toyota 8"

I was talking to a guy in moab and he told me you can put fj brakes on a 8" axle for helping with larger tires . If so what year and how time consuming is it? Does is change any of the axle ends? I am new to toyota's and any info will help.

You can use later FJ40 or FJ60 vented rotors on your axle, along with IFS-style calipers.

I'm not convinced you get any extra stopping POWER, but it will definitely help with heat and warped rotors under heavy usage.
