Ford Ford 9" parts upgrade.

I have a 77 Bronco with the stock rear end with upgraded 31 spline axles and a Detroit running 38's. Been real good to me except for a broken pinion due to a combination of high traction, wheel hop and bounce, axle (spring) wrap, and a heavy right foot.

Anyway, I found a Mega TRU-HI9 with the same gears as me and a spool, but it is set up for 35 spline. I was thinking about a GM 14 bolt, Dana 60 or one of these as a future swap.

How big a deal is it to convert my current 9" to accept 35 spline axles to work with this center section? Is it a "bolt on" affair, or will there need to be some machine work done?

You should be able to find some off-the-shelf 35 spline shafts that will bolt straight in.

Stock axle housing I assume?
There are bolt on 35 spline shafts.
You may want to add some sort of housing reinforcement with 38s (like a back brace). The stock housings are easy to weld to.
