I know there are a million list on the 10 essentials and whatever. I am looking for stuff that would fit in my pockets(cargo pants). I will have basics, but hoping someone has a golden idea I have never thought of.
I don't need to know that I need to take my gun for the hunt:rolleyes:
Anything you wouldn't head into the mountains with out "these" on your person.

I always carry a variety of knives, 1 5" hunting knife, 1 utility type knife, 1 3 blade knife, and sometimes my wood carving knife, (never know when you'll get bored) also a good ol' fashion Arkansas soft stone. I'm a big fan of my Leatherman Wave multi-tool.

Baby wipes are great, gloves are nice. A couple lighters, a mini-mag flashlight, (yes even during the day, because sometimes you end up walking after dark.) A whistle, some of the cool purple army firestarter.

I also always pack my GPS and Camera, some extra batteries.

Basically, I have a small back pack and carry:

3-4 knives
A sharpening stone
baby wipes
leather gloves
folding saw
GPS
Camera
Batteries
Flashlight
emergency blanket
pen and note pad
water
candy bars
firestarter
3-4 lighters
maps
whistle
small first aid kit
bandana or two
MRE

Sounds like a lot to carry, but most of its small and compact, or can be carried in your pockets. No really new or cool ideas, just things I've always found myself looking for while hunting.

Oh, and a game bag.

I have an older model like this one:

Gerber-multi-plier-600-blunt-nose-large-7500.gif

I love the wide jaws. I also use the file regularly.

This is an awesome light for a good price and small/light/bright/long lasting:

Sounds similar to what I carry in my pack. Trying to decide what to put in my pockets. I hate space blankets.

I think that the only things I always have with me that haven't been mentioned already are some aspirin and 25' of parachute cord. Both get used frequently.

Depending on where and what I'm hunting, I often carry a "Wyoming" saw too.
