So I pulled my drag link off. I need to cut it down 2.5" and have it retapped so I can steer full lock in both directions.

Had to cut the bolt off the pitman arm. Misalignment spacers where all galled up and siezed to the bolt...

IMG_20101230_204353.jpg

Hopefully I'll get it done

So that dang misalignment spacer was my undoing![/size]

I got the drag-link shortened drilled and tapped Friday. Picked up a new bolt and nut (Home Depot was the only place open so I couldn't find a grade 8). Went to put it in and the misalignment spacer seized onto the bolt... it must be galled or smashed oval or something because even my 3lb sledge couldn't get it apart, So today I get to find a new bolt (graded) and a new misalignment spacer... (like $5), but it kept me from the snow run.... arghhhhh

So the battery won't hold any cranking amps but it holds a charge?
I yanked the red top out of the YJ and threw it in for Crawlfest.

Crawlfest was sweet. The 1st day I broke the 1 1/4" slip shaft on my rear driveshaft

Got it fixed then smashed the fan into the radiator monster trucking over some cars.

bent the fan back and got a new radiator and hit the trail Saturday.

Yanked the stock tank.
You can see the hammer and wood block I had to use to turn off the fuel pump ring.
That sucker was on there solid!

Now I just need to find time to mount it.

I also got a triple stick shifter for my Box4Rocks doubler
Northwest Fab. over priced but it's nice to shift easily.

Cory helped me get it installed with his new Hobart plasma cutter the night before we went to St. George . :headbanger:

good job on the fuel cell!

Thanks Rick, I used 1/8" because I've had too many friends split the RCI ones that are 14g.

How many radiators have you bought for this?
Only that one in St. George, but it's had 4 (including the original).

BUT I guess I need some Brown Dog or Stinky-Fab hardcore motor mounts.

So I yanked the old radiator out to get it warrantied... and I got a little carried away...
and tore the whole front clip off in order to clean things up a little.

Sold my tube fenders.

I banged the dents out of the old grill... kinda. Got to give it some love before it goes back in.

I'm going to build some new fenders that will be higher clearance.

New Look

Well I got a fair bit done today.
Went and saw JT Molder over at Ken Garff Jeep and picked up a new fan shroud and a radiator overflow bottle.
On the way home picked up a patch kit: looks like crap, but it worked so I saved $50 there.
IMG_20110504_170803.jpg

Last time at little Moab the petcock on my radiator failed so they warrantied it and I got the new one installed.

I even straightened out the hood and grill....kinda ;)

Lowered the grill 1" for visability...Had to notch the grill to fit in there.

I was able to reuse the inner fenders... creatively. I hate cleaning mud off the motor.

Relocated the battery, and vacuum cylinder.

I got it all together.

and drove it!

I still need to tweak the shroud so the fan doesn't rub it, and paint some more and remount the winch fairlead but it's coming along.

Looks mean.

Raised the fenders 5-6" up front and moved the opening 4" back.

Basically took 10lbs of Jeep out of the 9lb bag and stuffed it into a 7lb bag!
LOTS of work but TONS more clearance.

New shocks!
IMG_20110510_193755.jpg

Well I've had them since the beginning of this build thread....

Fronts are on and reservoirs mounted.
*(Does anyone see any problem mounting the reservoirs like this?)

(I took the boots off)

Problem though, the rears are 1" longer meaning I have to do some relocation because 3" of uptravel is not enough for rock racing in Delta!

So tonight the plan is get the rear shocks on. Replace the trackbar bushing. Hopefully get my limit straps installed, and pack for Delta.
